Description This is a commission I asked from who decided to delete it soon because it was getting old and for their own personal reasons. However, they gave me permission to upload it into my gallery. Plus, the story is also a commission that I asked to create.

This is Ariel and Ursula (from Walt Disney's The Little Mermaid) as polyps as they embrace each other as mother and daugher while Ursula rules as a benevolent and beloved polyp monarch.

------------

Ursula wasn’t a bad person at heart.

She really wasn’t, though she could indeed be someone who allowed her temper get the best of her at the worst of times. This was a fault that the sea witch admitted to herself on multiple occasions, and why she often hid herself away from the rest of the sea kingdom. Oh sure, she had let people think that it was because she and her dear Triton had a falling out, and while they had some very harsh words with one another in the past, often with regards to her sometimes rash actions, the two were very dear to one another. That’s why Ursula was only too happy to try and help the dear young polyp with her silly little plan to become human and meet with her prince charming. The sea witch knew well enough that something like this was never going to work, as there were literal legends that told tales of how those of land would not be able to unify themselves with those of the sea, however, young love was often rash, and the sea witch knew well enough that it was almost impossible to turn a young girl’s heart once it was set.

And so she went and used her magic to aid the young one.

Three days later the dear young polyp had returned in blissful happiness, as the young man whom she had fallen so hard for had spoken the words of love that the young polyps had wanted to hear. Ursula was slightly surprised by this as she held the dear girl within her tentacle as she watched her weep silvery tears of joy into the sea around her.

“Thank you so much.” Young Ariel had simply said.

“I must admit” Ursula began very slowly and gently. “I am surprised by this.” She had thought that her personal experience when dealing with Triton falling for the young mermaid whom he had chosen for a wife would have told her everything there was to know about love, but apparently she had been wrong.

Ursula had not at all been pleased with Triton’s decision, as could be seen by the explosive gash which was cut deep within the depths of the ocean. To say the least the sea witch was quite ashamed of herself and what she had done during her loud outburst. Even now she wondered if Triton knew the exact reason why she had lashed out as she had done, forever branding herself as the terror the seas? Probably not, since they didn’t do that much in the way of talking ever since. Ursula herself could admit that she should have been a little bit more patience with the situation and thereby been able to see the good in how the new queen of Atlantica had been for Triton, perhaps then she would have been able to spend more time with the dear young polyps.

However, things hadn’t worked out as anyone had intended, this could be seen in how her and Triton’s relationship had fallen apart, and how she had been left to watch Ariel and her family from the shadows of her small hideaway. Having the young girl come to her for aid had been something that Ursula had never truly expected, even though the little redhead had been as fanciful and filled with excitement just as Ursula had been that tender young age, and yet the fates had aligned to bring them together. Now as they sat together Ursula thought about how it was time to make some changes. The young girl needed a mother figure in her life, especially after dealing with her new relationship.

“My dear,” the sea witch spoke to the young girl who looked up at her joyfully. “I think that perhaps you and I should have more of a heart-to-heart chat with one another.”

“What do you mean?” the young one asked in an innocent tone befitting her youth and naivety.

“I’ve done you such a great disservice by letting you go off and do something so rash all on your own.” Ursula admitted with a shake of her head. “I can only imagine what your father will think when he hears about this,” Ariel shivered at the thought. “But don’t worry your head over it, my dear, since I’ll be there to speak with him with you.”

“You...will?” Ariel asked incredulously.

“Of course!” Ursula chorteled in usual manner that made her seemed as though she had some other ulterior motive in mind. She of course didn’t, but that was just the way her voice worked when she was highly amused. “After all, I’ve decided to adopt you as my surrogate daughter.” The boldness of the sea witch’s words were as such that they completely stunned Ariel upon hearing them.

“What?” the young polyp asked.

“Do you think that’s a bad idea?” Ursula challenged with all the friendliness of a mother speaking to a daughter.

“N-no, not at all. It’s just…” the young one tried to think up the words which would help her to voice her thoughts and feelings but it was rather had to do right then and there as her mind was reeling very, very fast from everything that had just happened to her.

“If you’re worried about what the rest of the sea world might think, then fear not, as I plan to have a long talk with everyone just as soon as we speak with Triton.” It was time to change her imagine after all, and what better way to do such a thing than to literally tell others that she was planning to make a chance.

Of course some would probably find it hard to believe her, especially given the bad reputation that she had amassed for herself during her decades long stay in isolate, however, what was broken could be mended with enough time and patience, as she had learned. And, if nothing else, then changing herself for the young one next to her was something the Ursula sincerely wanted to do. And she had never failed in any endeavor that she had set for herself before now, so there was no need for her to do as such now.
