COMMUNIST PRIDE! China and Russia are my favourite Hetalia characters (China is my first favourite by a long shot, as people have probably noticed by now from my gallery XD). I drew China with black hair in this one because I wanted to try it out. I've been using dark brown in my other pictures since he has brown hair in the anime, but he has lovely black hair in the manga/web-comic, so I thought I'd give that a go. I think black hair is really more suitable for a Chinese person anyway.

I wanted to draw a semi-serious picture of China and Russia, and I wanted to have them in interesting poses, but I'm not good enough at drawing them yet to attempt that sadly it seems, because they ended up just standing there. XD

But hopefully the idea I am trying to portray in this picture is clear enough; the idea is of a silent understanding between two countries/characters who have endured a lot more than their share of suffering in recent history. The harshness of Russia's history is dwelled on quite a bit in Hetalia, but China's is kind of avoided. Probably because Japan was behind a lot of it, and Hetalia tends to be mostly pro-Japan. XD In the web-comic Japan attacks China, causing him a lot of grief, but that part was noticeably not in the anime adaption. The only REALLY impressive mention of the not-so-happy parts of China's history in my opinion are in his character song 'Aiyaa, 4000 Years'. That is one hell of a sad and beautiful song! I would recommend listening to it for the rest of your existence!
