Description A "recipe" for realistic miniature bread that almost feels like baking real bread: all you need is water, baking powder and.. well, polymer clay instead of flour!

This was adapted from this tecnique (wich is probably my all-time favourite!!).
However, this method uses just polymer clay, instead of Liquid polymer clay (which is quite pricey!).
Also, you won't need any mold!
All you have to do is to knead the baking soda into the polymer clay and shape it as you want before baking. So much fun!  

Ps. After a few tests, I found that while you can color the bread with chalks before baking, the colour does wear off a little, so I suggest to paint your miniatures with acrylic paints instead

Would this technique work for clay cakes too or is this just for clay bread?

Because, to me, the swirling needle technique (as I call it) is a little tedious, time consuming, and doesn't always work as well as I believe it should.

This is definitely doable - you can give the clay quite any shape.
However, I feel like maybe it would be better to use a mold..? Since cakes usually have a pretty definite shape
You can either try this technique, pressing the dough in a mold, or just go for the original technique (with liquid clay) and pour the liquid batter in the mold.
Of course you can also try to do this without a mold, I was just giving my two cents!
