I like the designs... altho the show irritated me with how they never address themselves as anthropomorphicΒ animals except for George and buster. those are the only 2 character they seem to address that they are anthropomorphic animals ( George will talk about his antlers and buster has acknowledge that he's a rabbit

This depiction of Arthur and Dora look a lot better because they actually resemble aardvarks.
Less uncanny that what the show has been giving us for years.

IΒ still LOVE this cartoon very much, but to each one his. And this is a great picture and very creative! Admittedly Arthur can be boring and could be better and I haveΒ some things I want toΒ she on thisΒ show myself, other cartoons too like Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, but otherwise I like it.

β¬ I'm an aardvark, and I'm proud
I'm an aardvark, and I'm happy
I'm an aardvark
If I try to be specific and a little scientific
I am feeling quite terrific
I'm an aardvark, fierce and free
I'm an aardvark, standing bravely
I'm an aardvark
And I'm tough and smart and strong and always right
And that's the way I'll always be
Until I meet another aardvark who's bigger than me β¬

It was actually first aired on a Season 4 (1972-'73) episode, but yes, it was featured on that video. (Personally, I first heard the song on Sing, Hoot & Howl with the Sesame Street Animals).

that show was dumb, but another one, caiyou,(i think that's how it's spelled) was so stupid and the kid was such a crybaby, that i called it cry-you

I was homeschooled as a kid which might be why I was so intrigued with talking animals going to a public school.
That and the theme song is pretty sweet.

I can't say I love it, but I also can't say I hate it or that it's boring. Some episodes are...memorable? Others, I can see your point about slice of life shows.
As for what I gather you favor period pieces for kids, American Girls (the original 5) did an okay job. And the only other series that is a kid friendly cartoon series based on a specific period is Liberty's Kids which, if it didn't regurgitate what I already knew from history class, it was tolerable.
The unfortunate problem with doing kid friendly period shows (chronicling kid interactions and experiences in a specific time period like Tudor or Ancient Rome) is that it would only really serve as a historical knowledge angle. Yes, I know you can always paint a toga on a kid stealing an apple from a bazaar or Roman market to show stealing is wrong, but to not add the real consequences of the time would do the historical retelling wrong.Β Societies change over the centuries, and even things we take for granted, say, racial equality, wouldn't have been in place for such times for reasons I can't list because I sucked at history.
As for a fantasy element to a kid show, aside from the anthropomorphic angle which seems to still be in a moderate swing, I like the idea of it.

"If Buster is a Bunny then why is Arthur a guinea pig"
and then I realized at the age of 12
He is an AardvarkΒ and therefore the alliterationΒ makes sense
