Description Greater Prairie Kheldri

Named after the Greater prairie chicken due to its strikingly similar features, this creature roams the prairies of Cordana.

This small carnivore, no larger than a fox, hunts small game. As the prairie does not offer a lot of hiding spots for ambush, apart from the ocassional 'tree', the Kheldri relies on its camouflage to remain undetected in the landscape. Once it’s close enough it will actively chase it’s prey. Its camouflage is also used to remain undetected from larger predators, especially from aerial predators.

The tufts on the ears, near the eyes, protect the ears against dust and other potentially harmful materials, as well as parasites. The function of the tufts on the remains, as of yet, unknown.

The Kheldri are solitary creatures, it is only during the mating season that these creatures gather in groups. In these groups the males will try to seduce the females. This is done by inflating their colourful sacks on their necks and performing a dance. Once the female has accepted this display, the two will mate.
