Description One evening, Percy and Toby noticed Thomas looked a bit sad, so they asked him what the matter was. The reason Thomas looked so glum was because he was thinking about an engine he met in his younger years on the LBSC, before he arrived on Sodor. The engine's name was Layla, and her and Thomas got along very well, and Thomas secretly began developing feelings for her. However, Thomas had to leave for Sodor a few years after the two of them had met, and Thomas never got to say goodbye to her, or even admit his feelings to her. He fears Layla may no longer be in service, or possibly have been scrapped.

Thomas: Her name... was Layla... She was a small purple tank engine with four wheels... She came to the railway to help with the extra shunting work. Her and I were quite close friends back then...
