Description A little something for .

Callum was built at Eastleigh Works in mid 1922 just a year before the big four was formed. He came out of the works painted in LSWR Olive Green and numbered 705, Callum worked at Brighton pulling fast passenger trains from Brighton to Exeter. A year later, the big four was formed and Callum was now under the ownership of the Southern Railway, he was repainted into Malachite Green and kept the number he was given when he was built. In late 1927, Callum was fitted with smoke deflectors along with the rest of his siblings. During the Second World War, Callum along with a few other members of his class were sent to the London North Eastern Railway in 1942 to help with the freight and occasional passenger trains there until in 1943 when the USA S160s were brought in from America to help with the traffic during the war, the N15s were sent back to the Southern Railway. Years went by and the Second World War was over, and in 1948 British Railways was formed. Immediately, Callum was repainted into BR Green and renumbered to 30705, and was put on medium-length expresses on the former ex-LSWR main line. Withdrawal of the N15s began in 1953 and with more diesels being built, the class was eventually all gone by 1962. Callum was withdrawn in 1957, but was hidden away in some of the old sheds at Eastleigh Works where he was first built, and stayed hidden for several years until he was found by a group of workmen who decided to find a heritage railway to preserve him. Eventually the workmen got in contact with Sir Topham Hatt who was in need of another passenger engine, Callum was brought to Sodor and restored to working order at the Steamworks, and he requested to be paint blue with red lining and the initials NWR painted on his tender. Callum proved to be a reliable and useful engine on the North Western Railway and became a permanent member to the NWR.
