Description
My original title for this one was going to be "The Moult of Venus; or, Aphrodite Emerging From Her Clamshell Armor." But as I was adding tones, another interpretation occurred to me--that rather than shedding a bionic hardsuit, the female figure is extracting vital components from a freshly dispatched cyborg opponent. What's your interpretation?Another "Mega-Tidepool World" study. Really this is just a warmup sketch that got out of hand, but I ended up putting so much work into it I couldn't resist posting. : p

To me, this looks like more of a horrific situation bordering on body horror...
So perhaps she needs to extract vital components from a downed enemy but her facial expression would suggest that it is not something she likes doing. Perhaps she has gotten injured during the fight and now needs to do what’s necessary and absorb her opponent to ensure her own survival

I'm surprised at the rather "dark" interpretations of this one so far...That's not a complaint, I guess I just wasn't aiming for such a macabre vibe. Yeah, the tonal treatment definitely adds to that macabre atmosphere... The original lineart still has a bit of a gloomy atmosphere but it's more melancholic in a way

She looks scared, both for herself and for the POV viewpoint. I'm getting some major Akira vibes from it.
Perhaps it's some kind of bioarmour gone semi-sapient and homicidal, which requires for some reason a host to wear it and so hunts for "prey" to "feed" on.
Maybe the armour was supposed to interact with the brain of the wearer for better control, but since going feral it now outsourses certain calcuations to it's host, and so burns through their neurons, damning the host to a slow identity death as their mind is overwritten and worn out?
Or it could be designed to feed off the body secretions of the host, so it's trying to capture a host to use as a sort of digestive system? Force feeding them and keeping them alive so it can use it as a digestive system?
Ooh, maybe the suit can self replicate in biomass, and so is going to carry the host unwillingly while it's offspring consume their flesh?'''
Can you imagine a horror film set up around this concept tho? You'd have the characters dealing with an Alien type senario, only as they get picked off they end up getting pursued by their friends in bondage, as their bodies atrophy and become more intergrated with the machine?
So many possibilities...

Maaan, your interpretations are always so much more creative than whatever I was originally thinking! XD I did picture the exoskeleton as purely mechanical, along the lines of these Shirow suits:

I'll tell you this, though--that bulge on her spine, between her shoulder blades, might be an engineered neural subprocessor allowing her to directly interface with the suit.
