Description Ancestral Biomechanoids and/or alternate Alien caste forms/life cycle stages. Suggested interpretations:

A - Riffing on an early draft of Alien, where the creature was envisioned as a feral member of an extinct biomechanoid civilization native to LV-426. (You can still see remaining fragments of that idea in the vaguely biomechanical appearance of the planetoid's surface features in the first movie.)

B - I read an interesting interview with James Cameron a while back in which he seemed to indicate that the Aliens inherited their biomechancial characteristics from parasitizing the Space Jockeys (which kinda makes sense, I mean the eggs and the facehuggers don't look particularly "biomechanical" but the adult form does), and their humanoid form (bipedal, broadly anthropomorphic, obscenely human skull) from parasitizing humans. That would nicely explain not only the Aliens' alarmingly human anatomy but also why they look so similar to the Jockeys in stylization (if we assume they aren't directly related to them).
C - Hypothetical "Stage 5" (or would it be Stage 6??) Alien emerging from its chrysalis after cocooning itself aboard the Narcissus at the end of ALIEN.
thomastapir.tumblr.com/post/13…
D - An actual "drone" in the entomological sense of a genetically male individual specialized to mate with the Queen. (Yes, I'm sure they've done this in the comix or whatever but this is my take on it so)

These are all pretty conservative, obviously...I'd like to do more, and push the designs further.

WOW! These are extremely detailed creatures. Very impressive!

I really love that you did not go with the classic head design but still kept it very faithful to the feel of the original xenomorph!
The stage 5/6 is very interesting to me as well as it would suggest that there might be even more stages we have not yet seen. Especially when going the biomechanical route, the later stages could be pretty damn trippy, perhaps even tying in more closely with Space Jockey tech... or perhaps there could be different xenomorph strains with different kinds of specialization. The regular xeno being something of a "search and destroy“-type, there could also be xeno strains used for espionage, assassinations or perhaps even filling the role of larger war machines

Oh yeah man, totally!  Back when I was a kid, right after ALIENS came out, I always fantasized about the next movie being one where the human soldiers/explorers/whatever (I pictured them as miners, actually) were fleeing or fighting their way through an asteroid that had been completely converted into what I envisioned as a "fully functional" hive containing all kinds of crazy specialized Aliens--not all of them even necessarily killing machines (though naturally they could easily default to that role under duress), but (also) designated utilitarian forms specialized to tend eggs, transmit chemical signals or act as telepathic relays, monitor environmental conditions, serve as massive biomechanical transporters, etc. etc.  But, you know, it's NOT ALL ABOUT WHAT I WANT (unfortunately).

I'm assuming you've checked out my pedantic musings on the "Alien-as-'cyborg'" hypothesis...?

That would have been a pretty sweet movie, actually...
I reckon something like that could have been more interesting than the route they decided to go as it would make the xenos even more mysterious in a way. Rather than having them be killing machines, it would give them a bigger purpose that could make things even more mysterious

And yes, I have indeed checked that out

I really liked the idea of the Xenos picking up DNA from the creatures they parasitized - remember that line of toys that were hybrids of aliens with like bulls, preying mantids, gorillas and so on? It was nutty but damn those were cool.

Is your hypothetical Stage 6 using it's biomech characteristics to link to the space ship? That might end up, on down the line, with a space-travel capable xenomorph, a living space ship.

A xeno based on Sacculina might be fun, too. Instead of bursting from the chest it puts out roots through the host, until you're basically a human costume the alien is wearing.

re:  genetic integration/hybridization--oh yeah, I loved that idea as well....I always felt like it could have been pushed even further, not that I'm necessarily saying I would have done it better myself.  I almost saw those toys, with some tweaks, as other denizens of the Alien's homeworld, if you think of it as part of a native ecology rather than a one-off bioweapon.

re:  biomech assimilation--that's NOT what I was thinking in this case, but I do love that idea and will almost certainly explore it further in the future!

(Have we discussed this before?)

re:  Sacculina--oh yeah, totally!  Or back to Cymothoa again, or the original pram bug/salp idea.

Hah, thanks, Alex!  I had to lol, "excuse my French" is (or at least used to be) one of Papa's favorite aphorisms!  XD

thomastapir.tumblr.com/post/13… What I like about this guy is that it doesn't seem to have any noticeable difference between back and front. Assuming its limbs are double-jointed, all it has to do is swivel its head around like an Ardean from A. K. Dewdney's Planiverse and suddenly it "faces" the opposite direction.

Aw  man, that kinda bums me out because I really struggled to make it less ambiguous....I suck at backs, they always look like fronts!  D :

I do love the Planiverse though, one of my all-time favorite (and in my opinion criminally underrated) fictional worlds!

Thanks for your feedback!

I'm down to see more bizarre designs from you, especially if you keep up the theme of disturbingly sexual imagery.
