Oh absolutely it would. But the cheesy SciFi movies of the 40s and early 50s they didn't know that. If you look at those old movies, they often had bare skin showing in space. It was that stupid cheesy retro feel that I was trying for.

I think the lack of real science was one of things most appealing about the classic and retro SciFi. They assumed that everything "Atomic" would be great, though in reality the rockets would be roasting her thighs in seconds and if by chance that didn't happen, the radiation would soon be killing her.
There was an innocence in those old scifi storybooks and films that's very endearing, and while we call it cheesy today, it still had/has an almost magic fascination and appeal. Bare or exposed skin spacesuits, people talking to each other in space, zapguns, jetpacks and rocketpacks, near naked space amazons, chunky rubber suited shuffling monsters, bubble space helmets and rockets that land on tailfins all add up to an overdose of cool for me!
I started this Spacegirl series of images as a gag, but she is growing on me along with a retro story concept.
