One stupid question. The blade is turnable or is fixed?

Good question! It is turnable, I think I modified it since that photo, you can see it on other pictures of mine.

Do you have any plans, drawing, or advice for building some of these?
I assume that it uses a mortised joint and the tension of the rope and hold it together?
Where did you get or how did you make the metal parts?

Yes, there's a mortise, and a tensionning rope. I also added a pin-and-hole mechanism to lock the blade (and handle) into a given angle. I made the brass parts myself, it's fairly easy actually. There's just some drilling and sawing to do. But you can buy some on the web as well.

cool
I need a couple of small ones right now. But I could see a big one be good too.

It is one thing to do fine work with fine tools, and another to do it with fine tools that you have made yourself.
Be happy that you decided to buy the blade. I used a scrap of 1/4 inch bandsaw blade. The saw would not cut until I refiled and reset the teeth. It is doable, but a royal pain. If I need another blade I will buy it.
Yours is a beautiful saw.

Thank you,
indeed, I feel great satisfaction in making my own tools and using them (to make more tools !)
By the way, my next project is a large version of the turning saw. I bought a (new) narrow bandsaw blade, so I hope it's going to work. I just need a tool to make curved cuts in thick blocks of wood for sculpture.
Did you actually just 'cut' the blade out of the scrap blade, or did you use the existing teeth?

I changed the set and shape, but used the existing teeth. Their size and spacing was correct, they just would not cut.

Ahh, now I see what the spokeshave was needed for. Beautiful and elegant as always, must be a joy to use.

Very nice! I'm so impressed that you didn't just make the tool to use that blade, but you made it look elegant! It would have been so easy to do the minimum necessary, but those finishing touches are really good.
