[+affable][+earnest][+punctual][.high-spirited][.droll][.inquisitive][-uncooperative][-inflexible][-non-gregarious/distant]
It’s normally the cheerful, warm side of Mana that many identify her with but the better one gets to know her, the more surprised they might be to learn how detached she actually is. While she enjoys the company of others, it is definitely she could do without, with very few exceptions. She has found out quite early in life that keeping friends is more of a struggle than anything else because she does not get attached easily. Her interest in other people’s well being is more on the lines of politeness as she considers being kind to others something all people should be. It’s a simple matter of giving and receiving respect and why not, having a chat and a laugh along the way! So to speak, she wouldn’t go out of her way to help anybody unless she had a very good reason to (best friend/animal in danger/life and death situation/was offered a favor at a later time in exchange for her help).
However, this should be in no way regarded as a facade! Mana means everything she says and does so you shouldn’t doubt her intentions. As a matter of fact she is aware that this side of her is something she should work on, it being the main reason why she joined a club in the first place! Her team work skills are poor as she tends to do most work on her own without consulting anybody. She puts lots of effort into said work since she doesn’t mind it taking more time, all because that’s what she sees as the most efficient method.
She has enough energy for about three people and she knows exactly how to dose it in order to get results. Behind closed doors, when she isn’t out exploring with her trusty bike of course, there is a lot of studying going on. Even if her parents have encouraged her to socialize more, Mana prefers being on her own, with her closest friend and/or books. But it’s out in nature she feels most at peace so that’s where you’ll most probably find her. Call her on the landline or her friend’s phone if you’re looking for a lively conversation with lots of jokes and light teasing or simply decide on a time and place and meet her there. She will show up without fail.
If there is something certain and obvious about Mana, that’s the fact that all she does, she does her own way, at her own pace and she’s trying her hardest to grow as a person. So show her patience and don’t intrude in her little space and who knows, a friendship might blossom after all!
History:
Mana’s parents met in their first year of college. Her mother, who was born and raised in Iwamori, had decided as a child to leave her hometown behind in search of art and adventure all over the world so you could say that starting a family at the age of 23 in Tokyo was never part of the plan. Yet there she was.
The two young people raised their bundle of joy in a small apartment until she turned 5 and started showing signs of restlessness. Their jobs kept them both quite busy so they didn’t have the time nor the energy to take Mana to play in park as often as she wanted. So together, as a family (mostly to Mana and her father’s excitement), they decided that the best solution would be moving to Iwamori which was by far a less stressful environment.
The move proved to be easier than they expected since all of their things could fit in a few suitcases they dragged along with them on the train to the small city of Iwamori and the money they were saving for a flat were instead invested in a house that her parents and brother gladly helped paint and furnish while the Shiotani family said their goodbyes to the capital city.
Thus, a new adventure began! Concerned that their child would grow bored of playing by herself in the garden and bury herself in books, not a week after the big move was done and over with they introduced her to the lovely family next door who happened to have a daughter her age. Even though Mana definitely came on too strong while talking about magic and princes, a friendship was struck that day and the little girl managed to make a friend at last.
Thanks to Chizuru, Mana went on to adapt to and enjoy the very different life in the rural city. While attending the same schools and spending most of their time together outside classes as well, the bond between the two grew stronger by the day. They would hop on their bikes and explore the area near their homes, terrorize Chizuru’s older brother who always seemed to be stuck with babysitting duty and have entire conversations through the windows of their rooms that happen to be facing each other. What were the odds!
Overall, Mana’s experience has been thrilling so far and there hasn’t been a day she hasn’t woken up smiling. While there haven’t been any eventful episodes in her life so far, she realizes it’s still too early to give up on the hope of turning a frog into a prince or discovering she can move things with her mind. For now, however, she plans on making the most out of this “high school experience” her parents can’t seem to stop bragging about. Adults, what do they know anyway
Trivia:
(I know there is a lot but it's all pretty relevant)
- Blood type B3 (negative)
- Wears glasses in class and when reading, during breaks she leaves them on the desk in their case
- Uses body glitter in her body care products. There are times when she shakes her head and glitter falls out of her hair
- Quite very touchy-feely. Things like hand or arm touching, arm linking, hand holding, pats on the head or hair ruffling, even hugs, she will do them all even if she is not close friends with that poor person. It comes very natural to her because she doesn’t think much of it, they’re just smalls signs of affection and she enjoys just dishing them out to everybody. She isn’t aware that her behavior could easily be misinterpreted and she could come off as flirty but that’s because there is absolutely no flirtatious intention behind it all. She grew up in a loving environment where these things are very normal and she was never told to hold back so she doesn’t.
- She cannot wink. It’s not that important really, she simply discovered that she couldn’t when trying to reproduce a movie scene for her friends. She’s still embarrassed about it especially since they just won’t drop it!! (she doesn’t really mind, she laughs about it too). It’s actually funny to watch her struggle though
- Does not own a mobile phone. Whenever someone asks for her number or email she gives out Chizu’s contact info (don’t worry, she has permission). If you really want to talk to her though you can try calling her at home on the landline phone! But try in the evening
- Mana rides her bike to school in the morning
- She has never been late to anything
- One of her favorite hobbies is umbrella hopping which really means that when it’s raining, classes are over and she has forgotten her own umbrella at home, she walks up to the nearest person holding one above their head and sticks close to them for a few seconds. She says hi and introduces herself if necessary then thanks them right before dashing out into the rain in search of the next person with an umbrella. She actually likes rain, she only does this for fun and it’s actually a great way to startle but also meet new people
- Doesn’t leave the house without sunscreen and lip balm. She’d rather leave her wallet at home if she finds the bag too heavy
- She can be bribed with strawberry milk. HOWEVER! At times she just takes the milk and doesn’t do what she was supposed to do in exchange for it because she “doesn’t feel like it” so ..good luck
- She has a thing about kissing frogs. She has never kissed a living one but she has tried it with a tree frog when younger. She changed her mind at the last second realizing that she’d lose her first kiss to a frog that might not even turn into a prince. She only got a small rash on her hands for holding the frog but that was it. Now she sticks to kissing frog drawings from fairytale books.
- Chizuru often gives her chocolate frogs and one time even gave her a real one that Mana decided to keep as a pet. She calls him Ouji-sama
- Reads FOR FUN!! Usually young adult fantasy novels and fairytales from all around the world. Just don’t mention Twilight or you won’t be able to get her to stop talking about how bad that series is
- Many of her casual clothes are colorful and she does not own anything in black (even her witch hat is a dark cherry). Her favorite colors have to be lemonade yellow, cherry and bubblegum pink (you’re right in assuming there is a theme here. If the color looks “delicious” she will like it). She has a pink raincoat she adores and even some frog themed clothes-
- Her mother is an artist and her father a biology teacher, They do just fine with their current income because they mostly spend money on necessities. They’re quite the practical family
- Mana’s mother not only helps her make her bento every morning, she also designs and makes clothes for her. Yes, including witchy clothes which are basically a pointy hat and a cape she’s had for years now but doesn’t want to give up o
Relationships:
Shiotani, Aimi (mother): She makes her bentos in the morning and all of her witchy clothes. She spoils her
Shiotani, Daisuke (father): He (tries to) help her with her more difficult homework and watches sports with her. He spoils her
Grandparents: They always give her small attentions like small sums of money and apples. They spoil her
Hoshino, Chizuru: Her beloved Chi-chan! Bestest friend ever!! They will never be apart, Mana can’t even imagine that
More to come?! Stay tuned

Roleplay methods:
Hi, hello! I go by Alec or Alek or whatever, I’m actually not that picky. I live in a gmt +2 zone which means that normally i’m awake when everybody else is asleep. I know. Quite inconvenient, right? But i’m online for many hours so contact me whenever!
I love to HC more than anything else. It’s fast and fun and i just love it haha! If you want to roleplay seriously, let me know, i’m up for both lit and script. I will have to ask you to be patient though as i’m slower with those kinds of replies
I’m most active on my personal twitter but I could make a special one for OCs and HCs if needed. For now you can find me @ tendershivers . I will keep updating this section though, so keep an eye on it!
I also do discord! Find me @ thorn # 5691 where i am always offline but most probably actually secretly online! Feel free to leave me as many messages as you want, but please tell me who you are when you do add me to your friendlist or i might reject your request by mistake
dA notes and gdocs are just as fine! It’s quite easy to keep track of them BUT that’s where I will be slowest so that’s that (in notes at least)..
Unfortunately i do not do comments and Skype anymore, sorry!
Thanks for reading all this! You deserve a medal, really
Don’t be afraid to comment, i’m surprisingly friendly. Slow, but friendly
