hhmm, buggy..ok, i'll keep it quick. because i wrote a big send up last time, then got a blank screen afta submitting
a concept for rich johnsons "Erth Chronicles"..
about half days work..the latter half unfortunately.
highly enjoyable..

hmmm...I prefer your colour artwork, as you don't use full white or full-black, your greyscale work lacks contrast. Besides the fact, you're just really good with colour

hehe thanks. this was built up to be coloured. Sometimes i illustrate in B&W then layer different tones over the top. but i was really pleased with what was conveyed..keeping in mind that this is concept art and only took me half a day..generally i spend a week or two on each piece

Yea thank you..it is indeed my first..It also marks a return to illustrating in a portrait dimension...Not since eclipse and Ripple Through Time...back in 2004..Its bloody shocking..but glad to be back

Heya faery, thank you, i actually built the image up using various greys..when i went to add the colour, it worked, but i caught an earlier version and thought, naaa, it preffers to be colourless

So do you always work in grayscale before addig color? how do you achieve that richness of color after all?

Sometimes, but not all the time..my last b&w with colour added was, "Significance of the way"..It all depends on which techniques wants to work first

Glad you are still enjoying producing the artwork for Erth Chronicles Marley. I have sent comments via email. In short I love it, it certainly captures the essence of this scene. I think if you come back to it, it's all about the details, that will open it up more. As a first stab though it's stunning, the dynamics and composition are spot on.

Thanks, richard..its my first piece that hasn't taken me more than a day..and my first back in portrait mode since 2004, would ya believe..I appreciate i didn't quite nail it down to the details, but on a technical level as an artists...i thoroughly enjoyed myself..
is this accurate enough to go onto the collection on your site?. I'll possibly work on another depiction later on.

Oh yeah, it's certainly accurate enough to go in the gallery, which I will do tonight. You'll realise how pedantic I can be, been living with the story so long. I appreciate this is other artists' interpretations. I think it's a great piece of work.
