Description Finally I have a picture of me in the Eowyn White Wool Gown that I made!!! Actually it's not made of wool, but the original in LOTR is wool. Very soon I'll be taking pictures of me in this gown outdoors (this background doesn't look very Middle Earth-ish ) and I'll use the Rohan banners in the background. I noticed I look very mad...oh well, I guess it's me trying to look like Eowyn before she goes into battle. Well, I hope you like it!!!
~Maggie
Eowyn is ŠJ.R.R. Tolkien/Tolkien Enterprises
Costume is based on dress design by Ngila Dickson

The brocade fabric on the sleeves is gorgeous and the gold necklace and slippers really help tie it all together.

Wow thank you so much!!!!!!!! I love that sleeve lining fabric too - I almost gave up on finding a good fabric for the sleeves, but then I found this at JoAnn's. Thank you again for the compliment and saying that I look good in it!! I'll be taking pictures with the banners this week, I promise!!!

Wow, this turned out SO pretty!! I love it! What did you make it out of? I love the lining fabric as well!! And the slippers are adorable! They look very similar to the ones I just bought at Payless to go with my golden elf gown!

ThreeRingCinema In reply to MistressKristin [2005-08-30 15:32:30 +0000 UTC]

Thank you SO much!!!!!!!!!!!!! You know, I'm not exactly sure what kind of fabric this is!! I think it's some kind of polyester blend; it's stretchy, and it almost feels like velvet but I know it's not velvet. I'm so happy with that dress fabric - I found it in the back of JoAnn's for $3 a yard!!! I bought the last five yards of it and I just love it!! The lining fabric for the sleeves was a little more expensive, but I didn't need as much so it was okay. The sleeve lining is an off white bridal brocade with a leaf pattern. I love the slippers too!!! Thanks again for the compliment!!

super gorgeous! do you have a pattern for that? if so, could i have the pattern number? i would LOVE to make this gown! so gorgeous!

ThreeRingCinema In reply to MusicRocksGBV [2005-08-30 15:59:24 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much!!!!! I didn't use a pattern for this gown, but Simplicity has similar patterns to this one. I never have luck with patterns, they never fit me right, I guess I'm in between their sizes, so I just draft my own, sometimes using patterns as a base. Some similar patterns are: Simplicity 4940

Butterick 3552

I hope that helps!! Have fun sewing your dress!!!

those are beautiful patterns! i have a similar pattern that i might be able to use, but i don't have experience in improvising a pattern to fit my needs, you know?

ThreeRingCinema In reply to MusicRocksGBV [2005-08-31 00:10:53 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I know what you mean!! Patterns can be frustrating....well good luck with your dress, and I can't wait to see it!! Do you know what you want it to look like yet, or maybe what color you want?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MusicRocksGBV In reply to ThreeRingCinema [2005-08-31 21:05:30 +0000 UTC]

white is a gorgeous color, but blue would be great too. i really don't know. i don't have much time for pattern design and such because of school. any ideas? maybe i could do it over break sometime.
the kind of dress you made here would be really gorgeous and i would love it to death. maybe in a royal kind of blue, but i don't want to do velvet or anything. something airy and fun to wear but not too formal looking, so i can wear it whenever for whatever occasion i feel like. heh.
