oh well James took his bullying too far onr day and due to his anger,snape took it out on Lily calling her a mudblood. their friendship ended there and snape tried to say sorry to Lily but she wasn't having it and she started dating/married James after they finished school and snape throw himself more into the dark arts. i hope i helped you.

well if you were in his place,you would rash out to,she i guess was the closes to him and he just snapped. she kinda did have a small role in he bullying really...Since,James was jealous of how close snape and lily were. and he to that a huge crush on her plus snape was into the dark arts and James hated it that also had something to do with it as well. :/
