Damir is one of the major characters of the Divine Blood novel and short stories.

He is Croatian ethnically, though Croatia has not yet obtained independence from Yugoslavia in Divine Blood. Also, Damir's nationality in the universe is up in the air. He's been a soldier from at least eight years old and it does tend to make him look older than his 16 years of age. Currently, he is employed with the mercenary organization know as Avalon. He is a part of the "Dunadan" named after the High Men of Tolkien's Middle Earth. They are among the best upright pilots in the world.

Damir is tall, skinny, sometimes looking underfed and has a number of scars, the most prominent of which is the electrocution scar along his arm that occurred due to a glitch in the hardware of an appropriated Russian upright.

Damir's current mission is to learn how to adapt to the civilian world, something Captain Gaetana Trolleti hopes it isn't too late for him to be able to do. He has found himself quietly taking up a position protecting both Yoon-Ji "Yooji" Jeon, Eija Semezou, and the students and faculty of Bravura Academy in general. He seems to take the idea of the existence of non-human, sometimes Immortal, entities very easily. However, the insecure nature of civilian living gives him fits of paranoia.
