I have never played Mass Effect, but that 6-wheel vehicle look so cool...

Haha thats what happened to me. I saw this cool looking 6-wheel thing on the net and wanted to know where it was from. Bought the games on special without knowing what the game was about just because of the Mako. One of the best trilogy games I ever played.

I'm curious: what are the final dimensions of the finished model?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ThunderChildFTC In reply to sasa454 [2016-04-26 21:59:43 +0000 UTC]

If I'm not mistaken it's about 17cm. My test build has long since been demolished and I have not built another yet...

nice model, nice textures, but I cant glue that model, its impossible for me, because flaps are not good, can you make a not lock .pdo version please?

I glued the fuselage, but it's bad, its wasting of time, maybe in future I try draw it in SketchUp*, it is so many parts, but nothing, what does it stick straight

* but at first must redraw fuselage on Steampunk Electro-Magnetic Aero Carriage   siriusartworks.deviantart.com/…

Great work! I wished to build Mako since I played ME, but always designing phase thrown me off. Thanks for doing this for me!
What scale is the model? My rough calculations suggests it is close to 1:35, am I right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ThunderChildFTC In reply to Herakleides [2012-06-17 19:09:45 +0000 UTC]

Scale has always been a problem in the game, the mako was really REALLY small in ME3(Final mission in London) as opposed to it's size in ME1... I'd say it's more like 1:48 though...

Herakleides In reply to ThunderChildFTC [2012-06-17 20:00:07 +0000 UTC]

Well, you are right that scale (and ability to fit interior in the exterior) do not look like high level priority for ME model designers.
For example, playing ME1 I wondered how Normandy interior may fit inside it's hull - you can see how small she is while she docks in the Citadel.
You say ME3 Makos are much smaller than the one from ME1? And am I right they have compartment for soldiers in the back, where the engine used to be?

Why I think your Mako model is 1:35? When I tried to build my Mako model I made screenshots from ME1. Wheel reaches just below Shepard's shoulder. I'll have to build a model's wheel to make proper comparisons, but it seems to be more or less in good proportions with 1:35 figures.

Yep. I guess now we know why Sheppard could only take two teammates on a mission, the Mako can't take more people!

So cool. Thanks for the design and the sharing. Now I only need the time to build it (so many nice models...).

Thanks again!

You know, if I had a PDO of this baby, I'd be tempted to make a lifesize one.

But can't do it without the PDO.

At the size you're going for, you should get your hands on the game-mesh. It has a lot more detail than this little guy.

JohnnyMuffintop In reply to ThunderChildFTC [2011-11-04 08:01:22 +0000 UTC]

Well that's just the thing, I DO have the in-game mesh, problem is, for fabrication purposes, simple is better. I just need to make the basic shape out of metal, the rest can be bondo and paint.

This is excellent. When I saw the model, I was like OMG and found it has instructions and everything, so I'm gonna start building it. If you don't mind hehe. Looks amazing and I just must have one for myself. xD

You are the best. I,m replaying my way through Mass Effect again, and one the bits I love is the Mako. I was only wondering yesterday if anyone had done a papermodel and, ta da, here it is.
If I can now only leave the game long enough to build it.....

Thanks again
