Bio
Name: Tantamount
Barn Name: Monty
Gender: Stallion
Height: 16.1hh
Color: Gray (chestnut base)

Build: A physical carbon copy of Acute, Monty has a nicely-boned body, elegant head, and not even the hint of Danger's Roman nose in sight.
Breed: Thoroughbred

Temperment: Monty fancies himself the next Houdini. Unfortunately, he has not yet figured out that thinking before acting is a wise move, and thus often finds himself trapped in the most awkward of positions. Like, with your head caught between fence slats. Or your back feet buried in a watering can. Or your nose stuck to an old fisherman's hat by the hooks woven into the cloth. Other than his escape attempts, however, he is a solidly-tempered colt with his sire's calm personality and his dam's sharp focus.
Stable: Black Creek Crossing Stables
Breeding Restrictions: May only be bred to realistic horses of realistic breed and color.
Stud Status: OPEN

Foals
None

What people remember most about Monty, besides his obvious Acute looks, was his phobia of sunlight. Off and on throughout his magnificent career, the colt suffered from frequent panic attacks and was taken off the circuit multiple times because of them. If he had raced as a three-year-old, he undoubtedly would have dominated the Triple Crown, but Monty spent his entire sophomore season in therapy at Heartbreak Ridge, where he continues to reside today.

On the track, he was an unholy speed demon who set over half a dozen records at as many tracks. He won multiple GI wins, including the Jockey Club Gold Cup and the Whitney--twice, but it was perhaps his Breeders' Cup Turf run as a five-year-old that he is best remembered for. Having been raced on dirt his entire career, it was a major shock to everyone when he not only raced on the grass, but won it in amazing style and grace.

Monty was retired at six years of age after collapsing from a re-broken front leg during his third attempt at claiming the GI Whitney against his stablemates, Devil's Reign and Andraste.
