People keep saying mario raised Yoshi but Luigi actually did, in the show series the episode called Mama Luigi had the story of Luigi putting Yoshi to bed and then asking him to tell him how he find him. I really don't know though because in Yoshis' Island both of them ( Mario and Luigi ) are babies while Yoshi is a adult already. Makes no sense.

I think the red ones spat fire when they ate the berries, but it has been some time since I played a game including different Yoshis.

Ah, I see.

Actually, the Yoshi powers all come from shells: red shell = fire, blue = wings, yellow = dust cloud/quake.

Yoshis who match those colors can do that with any colored shell, in addition to whatever that color's power may be (i.e. a red Yoshi can still fly with a blue shell, but also spit fire out with it).

A truer statement has never been said. They also give you the Cape Feather, which I think is the best powerup.
