Far too long did I live amongst the sinful
So many times did I look toward those doors as I passed
Too many times did I ignore the ringing of the bells
Too many years have I scorned the faithful ways
In health did I laugh at those who ailed
In love I saw only that which is earthly
In spite did I curse and cry out to damnation
In happiness I cared only for that which is worldly
Ailing, I have morned what is lost to me
In sickness did I turn to pass through those doors
In sickness I followed the tolling of the bells
In sickness I embraced the faithful ways
Through those doors did I find the light
The doors opened wide and I found the way
At the pulpit inward came the blinding white
By the alter I found my way to heaven's gate.
