Of course I adore freckles,but also the teeth I can see and the slightly bruised colored eye makeup. You are a very talented face painter and Ive tried it! even though I have experiance as a professionla portrait painter still not good at face ups! want to go practice now!

lol actually it was a kind of geisha faceup over the freckles XDDD
He has the same spot on the other side haha
And faceups are really different because it's not a flat surface. I learned faceups in a few months, before that I tried it a couple of times without really reading myself into it and thinking of ways how to start and actually do it...and this was before starting on a faceup.
If I need to try something new I first start to think of, I don't know how many different ways I can do it, before I try it out.

Oh yeah I know how the geisha paint is sort of a high flush around the eyes.
I paint polymer dolls and that works fine,but yes 3d is a little differnt.
Actaully I just got some mr super clear and that made a huge difference using pastels. I had used Testors dullcote as a primer and it was near impossible to get a smooth blush. It also had shine despite saying its matte. So, now I think I will be able to get something fairly decent. I also have an airbrush but, my Briar head is pretty small and its difficult to avoid overspray.

MSC is GOD is sealers! The spray is really fine and perfect for figurines...damn the Japanese for making such well made stuff and limit them! XDD
Hmm maybe someday...I'll learn how to work with an airbrush, but for now I'll try and perfect my pastel faceup skills ^_~*

Well for the polymer faces I use some pastel on a cotton swab and that blends fairly well without a primer.That is just the cheeks ,but eyes are painted with genesis heat set oils and I also use inks.
MSC might not be compatable with the polymer. I havent tried that. But online I had read testors dullcote was just as good so ,I didnt bother spending the extra money. I had almost given up cause I thought it was me! Luckily I took a chance and got the MSC anyway. It defianlty sprays finer and flawlessly. The testors even if you stand way back sprays uneven and you get grabby spots where pastel clumps.
Its too bad its so hard to get MSC!
An airbrush can tax your patience. I kept getting red eye,forehead and cheek all at once, just trying to blush a cheek lightly. Its hard to see where your air is aiming untill you see the color showing up. but my head was 2 inches and a bigger doll head might be easier.

the best thing about this doll is that it doesn't look like the billion others. you know, those porcelain faces and bright eyes can be pretty boring. but your doll makes me want to look at it. this imperfection gives it more human appearence, and i wonder what kind of life can this person have.
