Description Saw ParaNorman the other night! And I was pleasantly surprised by it! C: I wasn't expecting too much when I went into the theater (because the trailer seemed to promise a lot of brainless slapstick jokes) but I'm so glad I gave this movie a chance. I was thoroughly impressed with the build up toward the end.



I'm not going to say much else for those who haven't seen it. And fyi for those who HAVE watched it, I don't ship these two. I just figured I'd have some cute interaction with them.
So here, have some cute Norman and Aggie.

Ohh, it's so amazing. I love it.
Anyhow, they're related because Agatha and Norman's uncle share the same last name "Prenderghast". And Uncle Prenderghast is Norman's mother's brother so this would've been her maiden name before she got married, so even though Norman has the last name Babcock, that's only because of his mother's marriage to his father. So the Prenderghast bloodline is shared with Norman, even if the name is not.
There's an incredible 300 year time gap between them, but Agatha is still an ancestor to Norman. She must've had a brother who passed on the family name.

I know eh? One may be able to argue that it's coincidence that they share the last name, because I definitely know there are thousands of people out there who probably have the last name 'Cook' or 'Smith' who aren't directly related.
But I don't think that LAIKA would have given them the same last name just for coincidence eh? Not only that, but if you look real closely between Norman and Aggie, you can noticed resemblances, such as in their ears (Aggie's are a little smaller, but they're definitely prominent), in their jawline (Norman's is wider), and in their eyebrows (both have very heavy brows).

Yeah, I've seen the movie twice now, and it was only the second time I realized that they were related. XDDD But, I didn't ship them before that anyways. I had my suspicions given how similar they look to each other.

Yes, and the book states many times that they are related. I guess in the movie they would figure people would catch on with the last names of his great uncle and Aggie being alike, and their similar appearance.
