I drew this ultra low budget abstract piece during a recent trip to China. Since I didn't bring any sketchbooks or quality pens with me to China, I had to settle for cheap small hotel paper and a cheaper ballpoint pen. Imagery is open to interpretation, but I felt a lot of joy, peace, and excitement during my vacation there.Related content

you abstractions are the first thing that catches my attention since I came back to dA. I agree with previous comments that it is possible (and inevitable!) for an artist to create with whatever materials are available at the moment. you said it was an improvised drawing... in my opinion those are the most sincere at times, your mind just flows freely onto the paper without planning ahead - the current line defines the next one. and this turned out beautifully, it reminds me of seaweed which has come alive, tangling itself on dance.

honestly, I can't notice a lot of difference though, if you can work with ballpoint and get results such as yours then you can also work well with cheaper materials.
As always it is beautiful, and the eyes are gorgeous, I am glad you had a great time there

Yeah, that's true.. on my vacation i drew this sweet crazy ass drawing..but it looked ugly in the end cause of the paper i had to use.. but yes, youre welcome

Hey, our imaginations take flight in the oddest of circumstances, many of my ideas were sketched on napkins, or my hand/arm
It's crazy how there's no end to the movement... and usually I'd feel somewhat uncomfortable due to the presence of so many eyes, as if I had done something wrong... here it's the opposite though... the soft structure gives this a soothing ambiance...

uwaaa I really like it, it reminds me of some big bacteria or cells! The lines are really smooth and it looks good with those more contrasted/darker parts. And despite the cheap pen and paper it's still as good as always!
