so pretty much comic-con exploded today with the release of the older gaang poster, and well, don't tell me you weren't just waiting for this.
because i was. and then i decided "screw this, i'm not waiting any longer" and went and made it myself.

You are legendary! Seriously, I'm about to rant:
When I saw the photo, it had me jumping with joy. Who wouldn't be? We saw our heroes and heroines all grown up and I'm sure we all felt like parents witnessing our children twenty years later. But I had some problems. First off all, Aang and Katara. I looked at Sokka and I saw a strong, grown warrior yet with his familiar sense of humour. I looked at Zuko and I saw the esteemed firelord finally full of confidence and honour. I looked at Toph and I saw the badass earthbender twice as dangerous and oozing with newfound awesomeness. Then I looked at Katara. And Aang. This was my problem. Everyone else was so individual and defining, but because of Aang's damn hand and how their proximity was closer to that of everyone else's I didn't feel like I was looking at A master Waterbender and The Avatar. I felt like I was looking at normal people? Does that make sense? They seemed detatched to the gAang and I felt like they were implying that Katara and Aang alway had to be together. I felt like I was look at the gAang. And Katara and Aang, like they were seperate. Call me paranoid but it was just ruined for me. I like this much better, it still looks as though they're part of the gAng and the contrast between Zuko and Katara's clothing is awesome! I'm kind of pissed of at Bryke because I feel like they're trying to competely avoid Zutara at all costs. In the comics, not only did they barely interact but at one point they even made it appear as though Zuko was painfully restraining Katara. And now in this photo they won't even have them standing next to eachother and Aang hand has to be on her waist like: "You Zutarians didn't win." Then in LoK they made Tenzin Katara and Aang's son. Now I have a bunch of Kataangers on my back like: "Hahahaha, see! Kataang is real and Zutara never happened and will never happen!" Thanks Bryke. Really, fantastic job. Apparently they also tried to use Makorra to make up for their lack of Zutara. Am I the only one wh thought it was to easy? I mean everything seemed really rushed and forced and we all knew they were going to get together. Also Mako's a jerkbender which Zuko is not. Finally, I WANNA SEE GROWN UP ZUKO AND KATARA ON LEGEND OF KORRA. Can't they at least give me that??

Honestly, this is better than the original in my opinion. Friend and I saw it and...Aang leaning over Katara, hand at her waist just didn't look natural to us. We got the impression of him being possessive over her(which we can both totally see) evne though trying to be subtle about it. She just looked like she was just casually posing for the pic, while he had to go and make sure EVERYONE and their mother knew "this is my girl, don't touch!". I hated it. Don't ask me how I got that impression, I just did. But your manip here, is just amazing! It looks far more natural and casual. Like they could be together, but are casual about it and don't need to assert it. So good job!

You're welcome. And yeah, perhaps if their story was better written, I'd be more ok with it. So I'll just enjoy the fan stuff of the Zutara community instead since they do such amazing stuff like this.

bryke seems so screw up the way they handle canon ships imo (look at how makorra's turning out eurgh) and so we should be glad that there are so many good fanartists and writers out there who can give us more satisfaction from this pairing
