Description This is a drawing I did for a friend, who asked me to hand-draw a picture of what is called a "rifle memorial". It's a memorial put up in memory of a soldier killed in battle, and it consists of an M-16 stuck in the ground, dogtags draped over the gun, helmet set atop, and boots placed next to the whole setup. He had a friend do a simple digital render of such a memorial, but then asked me to hand draw it, and of course, I couldn't resist. He plans on using it as a model for a tatoo in remembrance of his friends who have been killed during the war. Hence, the title "Remembrance".

I did this with simply a mechanical pencil and a kneaded eraser. I enjoyed doing it, being that I don't do much of this kind of work. I worked from an actual picture and the digital drawing - this kind of stuff is great to work with because changing the scale is very easy to do! I'd say the whole thing took about 4 hours. Oh, and I'm keeping the yellowed backgroud because it add to the "grunge" of it all. Enjoy guys!

Very nice....I have a similar project currently in the works....for the same reason as you did yours. I doubt this kind of pic would transfer to skin ink easily.....which is why im kinda hesitant..... Do you know if your friends tat came out okay, and what kind of editing they did if any?

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. And you love it, too! That calls for another ""!

I like doing things that actually mean something. In this case, not only did I find this meaningful, but the person I did it for finds some serious meaning in it, too. He sent me his essay on one of his friends who was killed during the war and I won't forget it after drawing this!

Omg.. that's so sad. I hate thinking about war, and i thank god that in my country, they don't send young troops off to war.

Definitely a beautiful piece. i'd be proud if i drew that too! lo;

Thank you! I think I responded to this one before... oh well. Thanks again for the fav!

As I've mentioned before, I liked this piece. It's got plenty of meaning behind it, both for my friend and for myself.
