Description I'm not sure if this is the right category for this - it seems to fit the description as being a craft, and it is jewelry of sorts. So if it's not the right thing I apologize to the mods in advance.

Anyway - I made some pretty little trinkets! Bead work is a fun, if sometimes tedious task. I collected some duck feathers from around the lakes around our complex. There are local wild ducks that come and go around the man-made lakes around here, your basic Mallards. Don't worry - No ducks where ever harmed in the making of these trinkets. These are shed feathers that where lying around on the ground. It's hard to tell but these feathers are those special pretty purple/blue iridescent shine on them. The females have these feathers on their wings. I collected a bunch of these pretty feathers and preserved them with some clear coat auto enamel - which preserves their shape and sticks the feather together so it won't easily fray.

Then I got a bunch of glass and bone beads - some packages of misc. beads in purple, blue, black, silver. Colors that subtly enhance the natural irridencent of the feather And with some thin fishing line I strung the beads onto the feathers and made some sparkly, pretty good luck trinkets! I was thinking about what ppl could do with these - so they have a purpose other than just being pretty baubles to look at. So I added a clasp to the ends to make them versatile for many applications for ppl to do with them. You can put it on your keychain, hang these removable trinkets on your dreamcatcher. Hang them from your rear view mirror in your car. I might look into making some Dreamcatchers. That way you can have a fully customizable Dreamcatcher where you can interchange the hanging feathers n' stuff to your liking. I don't know - you can do whatever you want with these things!

I am hoping and looking to find some craft bazaars - and sell these things. They come to about $4-$5 (after cost of materials and time, depending on size) each. And I can make many of them. And not with just duck feathers - swan feathers, chicken feathers,. My only stipulation - the feathers have to be shed - no birds harmed in the making of these trinkets. Maybe I can do custom ones - like if someone has a pet parrot or something and wants some feather trinkets made out of the shed feathers of their favorite pet bird. Cause birds shed feathers like cats shed hair, it doesn't hurt them they just happen to fall out when they preen and are usually replaced with a new one. Flight feathers are best - as they are stiff and hold their shape well after spraying. Down feathers don't work as well because they are too fuzzy and can't be sprayed with enamel.

Anyway - just a new little side venture idea. They are pretty and sparkly. I'm going to try and set up an on-line shop so ppl on the web can buy them. Have them mailed to your house.

You should make some with Bobby Pins, so if someone wants to use one in a hair piece they can.
