Description The second in my series of portraits is another legendary icon, renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Ma is probably the best cellist alive, having performed in concertos and on television countless times, and having released over 90 albums since his career began over 30 years ago. I'd say my personal favourites are Simply Baroque (I and II), The Cello Suites - Inspired by Bach, and Elgar Cello Concerto, Op. 85, to name a few.

Those of you who know me in person know how much I would love to play cello (if I could only afford one ). It's a damn crying shame that my school has NO string instruments at all, only wind, brass, and percussion. We don't need a band, we need an orchestra, damn it!

MATERIALS USED:
#2 Mechanical graphite pencil (initial sketches)
"Hard" Royal Langnickel brand charcoal pencil (set lines)
"Medium" RL charcoal pencil (hair, spectacle frames)
"Soft" RL charcoal pencil (everything else)
ΒΌ" tortillon (blending/shading)

This is the first time I have ever worked with charcoal... I like it.
