Description Yep....this is me exploring a cave...and yes, of course I doctored it to hide my face. And yes, there are no fetish related things here, but I wanted to share this special place and moment with y'all...

The Cuevas de Zugarramurdi are where the ancient Basque people prayed, meditated and did their ceremonies connecting them to the earth. Today, one can still see the roots of trees above the ground dipping into the cave and intermingling with stalactites that are still very much alive....the tips of both dripping with water to those of us climbing through the caverns below. A stream flows through the bottom, fed by a gushing, active spring. Moss frames the mouths of the cavernous place and one can feel the energy here as both ancient and fresh....it is a sacred place.

It makes me sad that the ancient Basque people's brujas and brujos (meaning "wise women and wise men - in other words, "witches"....the people who practiced midwifery, herbalism and healing, working with nature as their ancient traditions dictated) were killed for meeting here. It is humbling to recognize that so many were once burnt at the stake for refusing to be forced to practice christianity and instead insisting to practice what their ancestors had for thousands of years....midwives who believed in reducing the pain of childbirth when the christians of the time believed that pain was mandated by God because Eve ate the apple and stuff like that....And while exploring here, I couldn't help but to reflect at the centuries of those like the ancient Basque on my own continent in the Americas where the Spanish attempted a genocide of the Native American midwives there as well for the same reasons.

Religious freedom is something that we must all remember can never be taken for granted...and for me to be an educated woman today, climbing in a cave, who has chosen to focus on service instead of the traditional female role dictated by most Abrahamic traditions, it is important that i recall that freedom came with a high price paid by generations before me...generations like the ancient Basque's ancestors that people I know are continiing to preserve the practices of....and people like my indigenous american friends and so many others....we have our freedoms today because our ancestors fought to remember who we are....and those who walk this earth tomorrow will have those rights because we fight for them today...and that is how important it is to never be silent.

(I'm dedicating this to since this is in his backyard and to and because they will resonate with the history due to its historical human rights and metaphysical aspects.)

Even with your face half obscured it's nice seeing how you're having such a great tiem by your smile!

What a beautiful place. It's always so sad to hear that places like this, and people who simply wanted to be connected to the beautiful Earth that surrounded them, were seen as 'unholy' or unworthy of respect. In any case, I'm glad you got to experience this for yourself!

You are such a lovely tease, dearest friend hehehehe and yes, we can NEVER take that Liberty for granted. We have someone one heartbeat from the Oval Office right now who thinks himself on a 'mission from god' to do exactly that.
