European Wolf | February 2016 | Zoo in der Wingst, GermanyD7000 | f 2.8 | 200 mm | 1/350 sec. | ISO 1600
As I mentioned in my last picture (White lady ): In the little zoo I visited, there are also wolves. It's a pack of eight (well, we count eight, maybe there are even more, because the enclosure was so huge) european wolves - all of them very beautiful. Sadly, the enclosure was not very friendly for photographers. Fences everywhere, and only one single spot where you could take pictures without streams on your photos. Because of the very huge enclosure - which is covered with trees all over - it was very hard to make come closer. And last but not least: The weather was a horror, dark and rainy. But I did the best I could and I'm very happy with this picture, although it's not a portrait but a little bit more artistic.

Wow. Das sieht wirklich so aus wie in der Wildnis geschossen. Extrem atmosphärisch und weckt sehr starke Gefühle bei mir - allein durch den gewählten AUsschnitt und dem Einfangen des Wolfsblickes. Wahnsinnig schönes Bild.

They'd probably come closer if you could just find a way to jump that fence! Then they'd become really friendly, I'm sure. You'd meet the whole pack too, and maybe even get to give them all names for a short while. I'm not at all intrigued by wild animals, since seeing them usually means I'm in their territory, and all is fair game as far as they're concerned. I've met up with a few wild animals in the wild, and it was not fun and games with my camera, it was, "how do I get to safety before they get to me?"
I would never wish to meet one of these creatures either, and I hope for everyone's safety, they keep the gates closed and locked up tight.
Nice picture, but it was a little disconcerting at first.

Creatures... oh, you sound very negative. Of course these are wild animals. But a wolf is not a tiger. If they are hand-raised, they won't harm you. I know it, because I have been into wolf enclosures already - one time very spontanious. And if they are not, they'll do, what nature learned them: they'll flee, because they are afraid of us.

I know all about these creatures. My father raised wolves until he was eaten by them. They aren't as harmless as you'd imagine.

Na ja, was heißt auf die Lauer. Die sind ja im Gehege und ich warte dann halt ne Weile, bis sie so nah dran kommen, dass ich ein vernünftiges Bild machen kann. Je nach Aktivität kann das schon ne Weile dauern ^^" In dem Fall gings, da war ne Hütte, die überdacht war. Und bei Regen fährt man sonst eher nicht so, wir hatten halt extrem doofes Wetter erwischt. Aber ich musste 2 1/2 Stunden fahren und deshalb wollte ich dann auch nicht einfach so wieder weg.

aber stimmt, da würde ich auch nicht kneifen wolle,
wenn man schon soooo lange fährt.
