In Majora's Mask Link can only gain access to the Great Bay by freeing Epona the horse from Romani Ranch. When he gets there he sees some seagulls flying over a dying Zora. When he brings the poor creature to the shore he finds out that the Zora is named Mikau and that he is a guitarist who was trying to retrieve the eggs of the vocalist of his band, Lulu from the Pirate's Fortress. However, the Gerudo soldiers within defeated him, and he was sent back to the sea, gravely injured. He teaches Link a song and then asks him to calm his soul and Link plays The Song Of Healing and Mikau leaves Link his essence in the form of the Zora Mask.
