Background:
Born the daughter of a Latin American father and a New Yorker mother, Beryl is a tomboy who's not afraid to speak her mind. She grew up very close with her brother Ricardo who was five years older than her.

When Beryl was ten, her brother disappeared. This triggered her to lash out and get into trouble, as he was the person who was there for her the most. At the age of 15, she stopped a robber from escaping from a bank robbery. it was here she met Hal Jordan who would eventually take her as his protegee in the Green Lantern Corps. She was trained on Oa at first under one of the veteran Green Lanterns, however her training was interrputed when the Guardians received word that Earth was under attack from the Kriloteans. She was immediately assigned to Sector 2814 to aid the Green Lanterns assigned there already.

When she turned 16, Hal took her to Mount Justice where he introduced her to the Team. She quickly adapted to the rules and responsibilities she has and is currently enjoying her time here.
