Actually I got this tip for painting white from some kind person, so am happy to pass this on: If painting white, spray a light grey undercoat first. Doesn't have to be completely even, just enough that it makes the primer lighter (unless you use a grey primer in the first place. For red, spray a reddish brown or burgundy undercoat first, then the red. I've found red and white the hardest colors to aply, so this really helped me a lot and I hope it does for you!

Yeah, I'd posted it on Nerfhaven and NerfHQ before, years ago. This was done in 2009 or 2010. Was a lot of work, so I haven't attempted another in quite a while, although something similar this year are the Mass Effect-style Stampede and Vulcan I did recently, and the black Rayven with barrel extension and drum mag.

Thanks. Just grey, white, red, orange, silver, blue, fluoro green (not seen here) and 2 types of blacks.

Thanks for the kind words. I have to admit this is one of my favorites and I was sad to see it go... I've just finished one that's near the top of the list of favorites now, which is a Warhammer 40K-style Nerf Tornado Strike. That will be shown soon...

Just grey, white, red, orange, silver, blue, fluoro green (not seen here) and 2 types of blacks. If you brand of paint, then it's nothign special, just household paints. Important things are technique and protecting the finished product with a few layers of clear coat.
