Description and another try on a large space cruiser kind of design. the final has a quite weird organic look to it. the bottom one was created yesterday in an hour or so. over night i thought that i could do something different with these wings... and did today. so all in all around 3hrs for these two.

as a conclusion i must say they don't really hit my taste to a 100% - on the other hand i'm 100% sure that it'll definitely hit 'someones' taste out there.

the upper ship could be an attack ship. very maneuverable and quick in adapting movements and tactics of the enemy. surely a deadly vessel in the hands of an experienced commander. crew could consist of about 300-400 people.

the bottom ship could be interpreted as a usual passenger cruiser.

i have no clue... you tell me.

everything photoshop - fun fun

Kind of makes me think of the ships in Independence Day. Also makes me think of The Day The Earth Stood Still for some reason. I need to stop watching Sci-Fi for a while.

Hits my taste, I like the texture - I do prefer to see more cleanly rendered vehicles, but as rough concept art these are very inspiring! Only thing that really gets to me is fact that the lower one's foreground vertical 'wing' (?) is larger than the one behind it... given that the image is in perspective, it should be smaller. Do you use a basic 3D render to get the shapes in correct perspective?

everything painted. and yes, agree... perspective on the bottom on looks a tiny bit odd. need more experience with that.

Man, I wish I could create cool spaceships in an hour...or just sci-fi stuff in general. But I've always found it hard to draw man-made objects, even a simple car...Maybe it's just because I don't enjoy drawing "structured" things as much as natural ones. But this is well done, and it kinda reminds me of a manta ray for some reason, so you got the "natural and orginic" thing down

Ohh I have an idea, maybe it could be a morphing ship? They look pretty similar so perhaps in war time it could switch to the top mode and become uber deadly, and in peace time it could be a passenger ship? Just my idea! Great work though!

i had a similar idea... that the wings could be turned/twisted.

It's a very cool design, the bottom one looks more iconic to me! My only "issue" I have with this piece is the background seems a bit too busy and while I understand you wish to protect your concepts, your logo distracts from the concept you're presenting. It makes it difficult to tell the scale of this cruiser. While I'm not saying to remove your watermark, but see if you can't use it creatively but not distracting from your design.
If you put a more nebulous kind of space environment and say a fighter ship to show it's scale that would be more appealing and your design would pop more. Overall though it's a beautifully textured and thought out ship!

I hope you don't take this as me telling you how to do your art work but I thought I'd offer some ideas that would make it more appealing on a professional level say in comparison to Doug Chiang, or Feng Zhu. Keep up the great work!

feedback like this is welcome. sometimes you look at a pic and dont know whats wrong with it and yes, you have some points there. i still tend to overdo things i actually intend to keep simple.

Looks kind of like something you would find on Eve Online. Which is pretty cool. I love the detail and the realism (to a certain extent) I like the way the lights seem to glow to, good stuff

always wanted to give eve a try... never found time and the necessary cash but yes... the game looks amazing and is surely tons of fun.

Yeh, I've only tried the trial, and it was fun at the start, but as my trial began to dwindle in days I lacked the dedication as I knew it wasn't going to lead anywhere whatever I did. It's a cool game though all the same
