Description took some time to create a new terragen work. finally i had made one of my latest ideas come true. the idea to create and build one of the great landscapes from the lord of the rings. i was so fascinated about how the books describe these majestic and magic lands. so i packed my skills together with terragen and photoshop and created something what could look like a region out of the books. finally, the coast of enedwaith... how i would imagine it.

ps: i orientated myself a bit on some cards/maps from middleearth which i've found in the inet.

hope you like it, happy viewing...

well, some pieces of it are really nice, other lack... the water is less then I'm used to from pieces of you, to jagerred ..the sky has really nice parts and rays but on the other hand it has the part were white becomes black really to quick (imho).
The terrain is absolutely amasing - even tough I dont get it how quick the big mountains on the right end...
Nice piece overall but you got better ones out there imo ... its always good to get inspirated by that book anyways

Wow very nice.
You made the whole terrain with the terrain tool ?
Nice sunrays too. I must say this is a very nice Terragen render.

that's not only terragen... there is a lot of post work in photoshop that gives all the little things that make this piece special.

(I'm looking at my last comment, and I am ing violently) I'm more in love with this than ever before; especially with the water. I'm not sure what was going on in my mind when I said Amon-hen, but I surely meant Enedwaith (although, admittedly, it's mildly reminiscent of the former).

Again, absolutely magical work.

I agree with the stunning comment.. putting this in favs . Long time ago I sat on beach watching a scene similar to this. one side rain. the otherside sun. and this render is just as perfect as when I looked at the real thing.

A lovely render. Most impressive! The colors are wonderful.

It is reminiscent of Middle Earth, isn't it? Perhaps somewhere Amon-hen. . . ah well. Beautifully done.

Absolutely stunning man. I loved LOTR (even before the movie) and this fits the feel perfectly. The "misty" look is great!

One small thing I have a proelbm with as well is when you get rays you have to jack your density contrast most of the way up. This leaves those annoying jagged edges to clouds. A little post processing should clean those up fine though. Excellent work!

I am not much of a sky buff (except for recent experiments) but I really like experimentingf with importing RAW files and structures. I have a couple of LOTR calenders and movie guides and am going to work on a series soon where I try to crecreate some of the structures I saw in the movies (especially the old watch tower ) Excellent work my fiend, keep it up!

Mm, guess this one is a little popular - I will say you have created a good atmosphere in this one - imho not too mystical - some of your other ones have been a little more so than this, but as usual, the effects you created by combining are great to see - fantasy art done well.

otb [2002-07-25 23:23:14 +0000 UTC]

humn... although rendering terragen images is not that complicated...
it's pretty good... BUT... clouds and sun just look like one layer above the relief...
realistically you should be able to see differences in height... but here you don't...
another disturbing fact... you can see the jpg-artifacts with this resolution...
terragen-shadows are unrealistic :/... they might be a bit softer... mountains and water
are anti-aliased... but real nature creates things rounder :]

last question...
what photoshop skills did you exactly use ?
except for the font...

all in all...
nice terragenwork but nothin' for my desktop :]
