Description Welcome to Bishie Bishie for May 2006 - Guide Guy I had a lot of fun playing with the light on this one - something I've never really done before and I'm kinda happy how blindingly bright it looks Almost makes up for the stupid, stupid mistake I made flattening the BG layers before it was finished XD;;; that's why it the lineart on the background looks a little bit wooden *ahem* I learned not to make THAT mistake again XD Still, I hope Guide Guy himself makes up for it.

Comes pre-loaded with the UK's 2 bank holidays this month, as a reminder not to go to work on those days, but you can also open the image in any art program and add your own important dates

Sketched by hand, digitally inked and then coloured in Adobe Photoshop 7. Suitable for 1024 x 768 desktops (though ever so slightly larger)
Tablet used: Wacom Cintiq

Awesome work!

How the hell do get your line art to look like that? I've always wondered this. I have photoshop - but I cant seem to alter my lineart to different colours like you have here. It gives the picture a much softer and more professional look. Wwell done! That must have took some time.

There's a whole bunch of ways to do it. I don't know if this is the method Hel does it, but I make my lineart so that it's black and transparent instead of black and white (through copy-pasting it into a quickmask, inverting and then filling with black on a new layer, but you can do it with chanels too) and then set it to locked transparency. Then you can paint it whatever colours you like easily.

Woah, that sounds complicated! I use photoshop and what I usually do is copy the background layer, and then set it to multiply. What do you mean by 'quick mask'?

I'm not sure how it is on later versions of Photoshop, but on mine, in the tool box, there are 2 buttons next to each other, of rectangles with circles in, one with the space around the circle filled and one empty. The empty one is usually selected, but if you click the other, you go to quick mask mode, which lets you affect your mask/selection as if they it was a greyscale image (Black being tottally unselected, white being totally selected.) You can use most of the tools here, including copy and paste. So if you paste in your lineart, and invert it, the places that were black originally will be selected. Then you go back to normal mode, get a new empty layer, and fill it with black. Voila, one black-to-transparent lineart layer that you can colour to your hearts content (it's a lot less complicated than it sounds.)

The lineart thing on the BG is hardly noticable (If it really bothers you you could possibly fix it using a 'lighten' layer, as if the linart isn't too light this wouldn't effect the rest of the colouring (as lighten layers only effect things darker then themselves.)

This is lovelyyyyyy though. +fav for you.
