Because I have had some serious early middle ages and viking-era vibes lately...

So, here you see a depiction of the dreaded execution method that is the "blood eagle". It was used by the vikings of Scandinavia during the 800's to 1000's. The method involved having the sentanced one's back cut open with knives and axes, then having the victim's rib cage ripped open and finally dragging out the victim's loungs, eventually killing the victim through suffocation and blood loss. It is said that those who didn't scream during the process would enter Valhalla, the paradise of Norse mythology. The ones who screamed in pain however would enter Hel, which is as it sounds hell.

I also realized this is the second pic of brutal execution methods I've made. Huh...
