Description The Pontypandy Fire Service, Welsh Ambulance Service, NHS Wales, Pontypandy Fire and Rescue Air Support, Metropolitan Police Service, and the Los Angeles Fire Department would like to wish everyone across the world a very safe and Happy Christmas. This year, we will have a few helpful tips from the Emergency Services when it comes to the Holidays.

Helpful tips from the Police (Metropolitan Police Service & Pontypandy Police) (Special Thanks to Sergeant Ravani and PC Malcolm):

1. Remember to always keep all valuables out of sight and always check your car to make sure it is locked and all christmas presents are out of sight from Criminals.
2. Place them in a safe place like a closet.
3. Make sure to dispose of all christmas Present Packing carefully, some boxes left unattended can tell criminals that your home is empty.

Helpful tips from the Fire Services (Pontypandy and Los Angeles) (Special thanks to Station Officer Steele and Firefighter Melissa Ravani):

1. Always make sure the Christmas Dinner is cooked safely without leaving the cooker unattended.
2. Never leave candles unattended either.
3. Make sure your Christmas Tree is safely placed somewhere in the house to avoid Catching Fire.

Helpful tips from NHS Wales and the Welsh Ambulance Service (Thanks to Dr. Ellie Phillips, Dr. Aaliyah Qureshi, and Paramedics Mei Li & Melinda Harris):

1. People with food allergies should take extra care at Christmas, particularly if you are buying special dishes that you aren’t familiar with, or if you are having catering. Check ingredients lists carefully.
2. Keep glass and fragile decorations out of reach of toddlers and pets, and check toy safety standards. Small parts from gadgets or crackers can be a choking hazard for children.
3. More than 1,000 people each year are hurt while decorating their Christmas tree, usually whilst adding the star or the fairy to the top branch. Don’t use unstable chairs or stools – always opt for a step-ladder.
4. Test your lights and wiring before you put them up. Make sure you unplug them first before watering the Christmas Tree.
5. It is important to keep Christmas cards, paper decorations and the Christmas tree away from candles, fires or heaters, make sure your smoke alarms and your Carbon Monoxide detectors are working, and don’t borrow batteries from your smoke alarm to power a Christmas toy.
6. make sure you defrost and cook your turkey thoroughly. Salmonella poisoning can be life-threatening for some people. Never risk taking short cuts as it takes hours to cook the bird properly.
7.Make the kitchen a no-go area for pets and children, wipe up spills swiftly, treat small burns by holding them under cold running water for 20 minutes, and don’t dig into the wine until you are at the table.
8. Keep stairs, entrances, exit and hallways clutter-free.
9. Holly and mistletoe might add festive romance, but their berries are toxic. choose non-toxic Christmas foliage, or keep them away from children and pets.
10. Check that all batteries and magnets are secured inside toys, remote controls and novelty cards and gadgets.

Helpful tips from the Pontypandy Fire and Rescue Air Support Team in agreement with the Civil Aviation Authority (Special Thanks to Krystyna Kaminski):

1. Never fly a drone above 400ft (120 meters)
2. Always keep your drone in sight

4. Register with the Civil Aviation Authority as a Drone Operator and take the Flyer ID Test
5. Follow the Dronecode.
