Commissioned to create an AU version of AoStH's Merna the Merhog, in time for Mermay.

To put it simply, she would exist the same way as Breezie did if she had appeared in Archie Sonic, as a regular hedgie compared to her original incarnation.

This version of Merna is a marine biologist and/or archeologist, who has a desire to explore the secrets of undersea civilization, inspired by a random encounter with a Meropian (Coral the Betta's fish people).

She created a lightweight breathing apparatus after finding and supercharging an old Air Charm, a relic that allows land dwellers like her to submerge the deep oceans and breathe and even speak without need of clunky oxygen tanks or helmets. Likewise, from reading old fantasy tales of mermaid-type creatures, she develop her very own diving suit with a functional fish tail with the help of Professor Ninestein.

With the ability to last underwater from the Air Charm, and incredible maneuverability from her advanced suit, Merna earned the nickname "Merhog".
