Designing Peegs - WIPGlossary
These are the simple definition of terms used in Peegs sheets and journals in relation to colours and genetics.
Self = The coat is a solid colour all over with only a minor gradient except for the skin tone.
Three-tone agouti = A main colour covers most of the body, with a darker topline colour and a paler underside. The coat is ticked.
Two-tone agouti = A main colour covers most of the body with a lighter underside. The coat is ticked.
Spotted = The coat is marked with spots/patches of a less diluted colour. Coincides with chinchilla gene or the spotted ginger gene.
Ticked = The coat appears to be interspersed with lighter and/or darker hair. If the hair was studied closely, it can be seen that only the hair tip is dark.
Skin tone = The colour of the hooves and/or nose that is also shown on the body where the hair is sparse, eg the inner ear and groin. Optionally on bald peegs, the skin tone may be seen across most of Genetics: Colours, Markings and TraitsAll Peeg colours and traits are inheritable and are represented by a phenotype and genotype. Below are a list of the alleles in dominance order, and a table of their interactions.
Note: These genetics are only roughly based on real pig genetics and shouldn’t be used as a true scientific reference!
Base Colours

Similarly to horses, a Peegs main colour is determined by the Extension and Agouti genes. The genes on each loci are listed below in order of most dominant to least dominant. Agouti is activated by the simple E (black) gene and the does not react with Ed, or e; however all piglets with an agouti gene will display longitudinal stripes as camouflage that they grow out of by a year old. The spots on ej will reflect the most dominant carried agouti gene, or otherwise be black.
