full view if you want to see the detail... heh... so...assignment for my drawing class: color piece on illustration board about 30" high and 19" wide. so. I was listening to Nickelback or something otherwise malevolent and decided to draw Tai lion. highly exaggerated/stylized, but eh.
mediums: the background is an acrylic wash, the character was done in Prismacolor colored pencils, the stigmata was done with acrylic, the chains were done with a tiny paintbrush and a bottle of ink. all done over many, many, many, many hours. I think the chains alone took at least three hours.
pieced it together with many, many scans, so it's not perfect. mmwee?

I love the sense of fluid movement in Tai, especially his hair and the way his head is sort of snapping towards the left. You can tell he's mighty pissed off, eh? :0_o:
My one critical comment is: The chains and ropes don't look tight enough. You get a great sense of friction from Tai's pose... but not from the chains. They look sort of slack. Erm... hope I don't sound rude.

The chains bug the frick out of me... I wanted them to have more of a snap... but what happened was as I was putting them on, my wrist was naturally curving a bit... so the chains came out curved. I finally figured it out and used a ruler with the ones holding his left paw. I'd like to think he's on the part of the motion right after he's been stopped... but really, it's a mistake. :3 Anyway, thanks!
