Description This is a rather belated commission for *Red-Fathom of his character, Jack. I was intimidated by this piece, but I think it turned out alright in the end, and the time helped.

I DID NOT paint the nebula in the window... that's a Hubble photograph of the Keyhole nebula. I just don't think I could paint something better than that. I'm not entirely sure how to credit Hubble photographs, so if anyone knows, let me know!

As always, if you have constructive criticism on a commission, please note it to me.

This is quite possibly the fourth time I've come to your gallery to look at this piece. So I'm finally going to leave a comment. xD

This is beyond anything I've ever seen before. It's so beautiful. The shading is so perfect, and the lighting... The viewer can tell, right away, that you spent a lot of time working with the lighting. I'm particularly drawn to the two lights at the very top of the picture. I'm amazed at the creativity of placing those two lights there. The fact that they're off-screen is even better. It may sound crazy, but my favorite part about this image are those two lights.
And the nebula's glow at the bottom. Gorgeous. I love how the strongest part of the nebula's lighting is in the center of the floor, then gently fades away into the blue tint of the metal.
This picture is just so utterly believable. The shading is so pronounced and painterly. It makes the character truly look real. I love the little touches that make this image unique-- the three-dimensional look of the crates and the fact that they're unevenly stacked; the alien writing on the walls; the blue tint to the image; the two lights at the top; the tubes and wires connecting to various parts of the wall; and especially the metal plating on the wall. You've taken the time to shade and highlight each piece of metal, making it 'op out' at the viewer, rather than looking like a flat, flood-filled "wall".

Sorry this comment is so long. >.>; I'm just really blown away by this image.

No problem, my favorite thing is getting long comments like this, it's nice to know that my work is appreciated. I spent a really long time on the background and am proud of the way it came out. I'm glad you enjoy it too.

Very kewl indeed. Love the background you chose too.

The Hubble utilizes its near Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer which is Hubble's heat sensor. Its sensitivity to infrared light makes it useful for observing objects obscured by interstellar gas and dust (such as stellar birthsites and planetary atmospheres) and for peering into deepest space.

I love how you chose to have his eye patch stay on. Brilliant.

Well, it's *Red-Fathom 's design. He was very specific about the character and even made a mock-up of the patch for me to work with.

No way! I bet you could've painted a nebula! Plus, I found some awesome tutorials for painting them, too. I'd give you links, but I bet you've probably already seen them, hm? (:

Awesome job, anyway. The mood is perfect and I love the contrast between the blues and reds. (:

When I first saw this piece, the first thing that popped into my head was- this reminds me of Titan A.E.. I guess the coloring and the character resemble the film style somewhat?

either way, lovely work as usual.

lol, actually that was kind of what I was going for... I was told to do a kind of Titan A.E.-ish background. ;3 When I was working on it, the coloring reminded me of that scene when Cale wakes up on the Valkyrie. *.* Blues!

Exact same scene I was referencing, actually. Which means you pulled it off pretty well!
