...So I spent two days on the background. I spent maybe an hour and a half on Kuruk. I HATE THE BACKGROUND. Augh. One day I'll do one I don't loathe but today is not that day. Oh well, that resolution has a year to sit there and torment me. But hey- it's the first time I've drawn a wolf that I like! ...that works right?

I've done some playing around with Kuruk's markings and color. I may still play around with them but I wanted him to look more natural. He's from a mountain-dwelling pack originally so the darker earthen colors seemed to fit.

Following the events of the first great civil war, Kuruk's alpha and best friend, Maiara, was killed. While Sparrowhand, the "omega" of his pack survived, Kuruk was never the same. Sparrowhand had a hard time accepting Thalion as the new commander of the knights and requested that he have time to live away from war. When Sparrowhand left Chimu, Kuruk vanished into the wilds, unsure what to do with himself. He eventually became something of a grizzled old hermit and has now, sadly, out-lived both his pack mates. The only living tie to his past is the son of an old pain in his backside, Issac, a medicine-wolf. Silence's lineage, unfortunately, is unknown to Kuruk. He'd likely not be happy if he knew. >_>;;

I wanted to start the year off with something a little lighter but this past year was difficult. This year started out rough as one of my better friends moved back home across the country. I've said far too many good-byes recently so I thought I'd connect with grumpy butt since he can relate.

And yes, this is the same Kuruk pictured here with the rest of his "pack". Boy's a werewolf~
