Give it a try. oil with palette is surprisingly easier than it looks. Once you get the hang of it, the workflow is real fast too.


(Don't get me wrong : artist's talent and composition will always separate the real stuff from the pretenders. That remains true for any style)

I am going to try it this week but colour seems to be my hang up, i just dont see the colours in my ref images that artist like you seem to see? Colour and the fear of it holds me back, if that makes any sence, colour is my enemy

Color mixing/selection *is* one of the biggest challenge!

Jvgauthier is quite right, color choices are very challenging, before you get into that, try to understand value first, control it and it would be a lot easier later on, just try...
