Description In 1917, plans to resume unrestricted submarine warfare were layed on ice in Germany. Since th US thus did not join the war, it draged out until 1920. Casualties on all sides rose to unbelievable numbers. In February 1920, riots broke out in major cities all across Europe. Unemployment rates, inflation, the high number of casualties and the missing of clear war results led to massive outrages in the United Kingdom. Sailors refused to man their positions and on February 12th 1920, the Great General Strike broke out. An outraged mob demanding an end to the war and the removal of government stormed key buildings in London and forced members of the government and the Royal House to flee. A few days later, the Supreme Council of Great Britain proclaimed the Socialist Federal Republic of Great Britain. This CoA was adopted two weeks later.

Honestly, I don't realy know. In my mind the royal family took refuge in Australia and now rules ofver the United Kingdom of Oceania (meaning AUstralia, New Zealand etc.) and that Canada became an independent Republic. What happened to the African possessions and India I don't realy know. But I don't suppose that this socialist Great Britain would be very keen on ruling a global Empire. Maybe you could make something up?

They would have been more likely to flee to Canada to be honest. Your timeline though and I wasn't nitpicking.

Yeah, in hindsight you are probably right. Seeing as long-distance air travell wasn't a thing yet, Canada would be the more logical choice.

Yeah and the climate while not a major concern I imagine is somewhat closer to the UK's then dry and hot Australia.

Something like SSR all along the globe, maybe? It would depend about which faction would win the internal disputes, like happened on Soviet Union.

Since OTL's British communists were very Stalinistic, I think an Imperialist solution would be very likely
