Description

So it's finally done! The Saga of Eydis (Part 1) illustrations are done and finished! Sorry for being so quiet on here for the past few months, but I've been extremely busy with a lot college stuff! I'm definitel going to post the whole series on here.

The Saga of Eydis would be a narrative project that follows a young archer by the name of Eydis and her journey to find medicine for her ailing grandfather. The only place that this medicine could be found at the very north of Gilea. Her rabbit ears, as well as her grandfathers are the result of an amalgamation of humans and anthropomorphic races.  However, this presence of these anthropomorphic races was not considered normal centuries ago. It is said that this development was a result of a greater force. This greater force (known only as Uor’s Gate) can bend reality and change the fabric of the physical dimensions. Essentially, the omnipresent being, Uor is going to allow for the traditional fantasy genre to be flipped upside down.

Some aspects of Eydis’s quest will be rendered in a more traditional manner with more natural colors.  She traverses a wide range of environments from forests and caves, to volcanoes and snowy mountains.  Throughout her quest, Eydis is snatched away by an Uor's Gate and throwing her into a dimension that is known by Uor's Domain. Uor is never seen until the latter part of her quest.  Whenever an Uor's Gate opens, Eydis has to find a portal back to the tangible world, and when she does, the place where she ends up is almost completely random. Nevertheless, that location is eerily closer to the north (as though Uor wants to draw Eydis closer to the north). My project for this semester will focus on a portion of Eydis's adventure and there will be at least one encounter with an Uor's Gate to show a clear change in aesthetics. The aesthetics of the physical world will be done primarily in traditional mediums such as watercolor, colored pencil and inks.
