Description My daughter decided she wanted to be a Dalek for Halloween, so long as it was pink. I'm starting to see a certain Halloween theme there, but I digress. Anyway, since her brother is going as The Doctor, and I have my Idris costume, it seemed only fair to make her a cosplay too.

The base dress is spandex and super stretchy and soft. In fact, the material is stretchy enough that even cut at a child size it stretches over my dress form on the smallest size. Add in the bouncy hoop base and I can't keep her from playing in it! The overskirt belts on seperately so it won't get damaged by things like carseats and laundry.

This is too cute! What did you use to make the ball thingies? I've seen several different ideas online and am curious how you weigh in on the issue.

Thanks. I used smoothfoam balls from the floral dept of my local craft store spray painted silver. Just be careful when you spraypaint since it will eat styrofoam. They are just glued onto the vinyl pleather. This worked for a 5 yr old's costume, for an adult sized version I would probably get the ball pit balls, cut them in half and use the "made for plastic" krylon spray paint to color them. I stand by the removeable overskirt though, it will make traveling so much easier, and the split panels mean they can be shifted to sit without smashing the balls.

*giggle* Thanks! It's fun and my 5 yr old keeps putting the base dress on and bouncing around in it. She's gonna need something on under it though since that hoop will flip up in a heartbeat. On a kid, this is much longer, on a young woman (or a petite dress form) it is really short and makes it look like Sexy!Dalek. Ahh!

Then again, take off the dalek overskirt, add a wig and you have a pretty funny Joan Jetson.

So cute!(I never though I would say that about something Dalek related but hey.) Looking forward to the other pictures.

It's time's like these that make me bummed I don't live anywhere where Halloween is celebrated, I'm sure I could go crazy making costumes. I'll have to satisfy my costume urges with making stuff for the Fair I go to every year. And now I also get to dress my boyfriend up so extra sewing required. That reminds me I should visit the market for fabric for him. I made myself Sarah's white ballgown and my boyfriend wants to escort me in style so he'll be my Jareth, so I'm going to make him the blue ballroomjacket.

Your Sarah gown turned out really well and I know it takes a tremendous amount of work. I adore that movie and look forward to seeing your Jareth costume. I did a Sarah, the Goblin Queen cosplay last year that I love, but went for a totally different color scheme than the white, which I don't look good in. Have fun making that jacket!!

Thanks I had my doubts about the white earlier as well because I am quite pale myself but the taffeta I used is more of an off white colour so no problems there. Come January I'll go wig shopping for both myself and bf. I'm curious how I'll look as a brunette because the only other wig I own is a blonde one that matches my haircolour but is longer then my own hair.

Only going to make the jacket, the rest will be bought and altered if neccesary. We made an arrangement that he can wear normal black pants, but in exchange I do get to put a wig and make up on him.
