Description I don't know what he was interested in, but this eagle took breaks form watching the river to nose around the concrete pavement.

It has been identified by the WVDNR as a golden eagle.

The Department of Natural Resources said it was a young Golden Eagle. But people still argue, so it's a good guess as any

The eagle is the symbol of many things in Germany.
Also in the States.
Because of his power and elegance.

For nice picture Timmy.

That's within a few feet of where we sit when we fish there. It's hard to tell what people might have left the night before, or I've also see small mammals there.

i should think eagles like crows will eat anything they can carry - dead or alive

it's a fantastic image and what do you catch when fishing? anything exotic?

we did have fun camping along the Arkansas River - more water than we've been exposed to in twenty years of residence in New Mexico

must be nice having that much water right in your own backyard

Thanks very much!

I'm not up on their feeding habits but I intend to learn, because after all, that's where they will be, where the food is, and if this is a juvenile bald eagle, then the nest must be closer than 40 miles and I would love to get more shots every season.

The river has crappie, catfish, and bass mostly, in that order. Seems like the more exotic catches are in the tributaries, where I normally fish. Those would be mud puppies or water dogs, eels, turtles, and the occasional musky.

It is nice to have the Ohio so close because of the recreation

it took us seven hours to drive to water a fifth the magnitude of your wonderful Ohio River

Amazing sharpnes and depth of field. It has always been a dream of mine to photograph an eagle. Heck, id settle for seeing one... Its a fantastic shot. Almost more like a portrait than a nature picture...

Thanks very much! I spent a week in the mountains this summer, where there are lots of eagles. I saw one, but never had a shot. Now yesterday I went to the river to take macros of wildflowers and this one allows me to get as close as I like.
