Description I wanted to stray away from the almost cliche look of a monstrous ape that attacks people, or roars at the screen pointlessly. So here a female Himalayan Yeti (Megalopithecus Himalayensis) carries here young baby into a care were the rest of the harem and their young await the Alpha male (left) to comeback from checking his territory.
They can eat just about anything that they can find in order to stay alive, and their noses and ears are very atrophied to deal with the cold. They also have 2 layers of fur, and a layer of fat on their torso and arms. This is why they like hugs so much.
They are known to be dormant for long periods of time until the weather and seasons have changed so that it isn't too cold or too hot. Then they come out at dusk to forage. Ten-thousand years ago, they used to be found as far as the top of Siberia all the way to China and the mountains of the Middle-East, now they are endemic to the Himalayas.
Females are 5 feet tall, males are 6 feet tall as contrary to the fabled 10 foot tall monstrosity. Males also have a distinctive large melon shaped head like orangutan males and a chest that looks like a smiley scare-crow as a sign of sexual maturity.

Their design is a mix of Gigantopithecus, orangutans, snub-nosed monkeys and to a degree gorillas.

The key to most accounts about cryptozoology...

Always try the first account.
It's most likely true.
Other eyewitness accounts are either fabricated or based on the original.

The 1933 movie King Kong as well as its 2005 remake, Skull Island which is Kong's home is located in Sumatra / Indonesia where curiously sightings of a giant Bigfoot-like creature known as Orang Gadang have been reported by the locals. , probably that was the source of inspiration to create the character of King Kong, however it should be remembered that Kong was not the only inhabitant of Skull Island (not counting the natives), said island was also the habitat of dinosaurs and other creatures prehistoric. So my question is, in Sumatra / Indonesia are there mythological or cryptid beings similar to dinosaurs or other prehistoric animals? And if there are, what are the names of these creatures?

The cryptid searching organisation that I have been building up since last year. You can find a lot of new stuff in the Monstober 2020 stuff I've got.

i like this version of the yeti

and are kinda scarier when you think about it

if you know what a chimp can do to imagine a 600 pound, intelligent, powerful and fearless primate that can kill yaks with ease and can break you like a toothpick
