I'd imagine the traditional engine space out back is carved out a bit to accommodate more people, but riding on top is always an option!

It could be like the BMD-3 air assault vehicle, or like that one unsuccesful Ukrainian BMT-72 (which was basically a T-72 stretched by one road wheel to accomodate five soldiers between the turret and the engine) - in both cases, the infantry compartement is between the turret and the rear-mounted engine, and the soldiers have to jump out of the roof hatches.
