Feng is highly adaptable to sudden changes of plans and can quickly adjust to it to go about the usual. While he's open minded and open to differences in cultures, that doesn't mean he would trust easily. Having problems with trust issues, unless it is proven, he will always be wary of others. However, he does have a hobby of observing everything around him. He tends to notice more than he lets on.
Feng does have a bad habit of bottling up his troubles and feelings. He stubbornly refuses any help to his own problems since he believes that he can't rely or trust anyone. Because of his behavior and things he says, he gets highly misunderstood, but he never makes any attempts to clear up anything since he knows his true intent and just him knowing is fine with him. Once he makes his mind up about a personal goal, it's hard to get him to rethink or stop at whatever is up his sleeves. Because of the way he speaks and his refusal to give away info about himself, he's often deemed as an enigma by many.
Just like his name states, Feng is the type of guy that is like the wind; he enjoys freedom and hates being restrained. He's always on the the move, always doing something. Feng is often convoluted with his words, he always seem to dance around with it, flowing out of him whether they make sense or not. He may seem unapproachable at first, but he is actually quite a curious (inquisitive) little fellow. He often is very chatty once a conversation starts. Often very playful and enjoys teasing people till they snap. He is quite eccentric and unpredictable. Sometimes the things he says doesn't make sense and sometimes one would wonder if he's a bit cuckcoo in the head. Most of the things he says are downright questionable, if not suspicious about where his loyalties lies.
But no matter how stupid he may seem, he is actually more intelligent than he lets on. He enjoys learning new things. His mind is always racing with new ideas despite all the nonsense he talks about. However, he tends to let his emotions to control his actions than his brain at times. He likes to organize his notes so they'll be easier to find. His place is often cleaner and neater than most and he likes to keep it that way.
He is also overly ambitious, not afraid to do whatever it takes to achieve his plan. This could be a bad thing due to the fact that he is willing to do anything possible if he deems it would be useful to the current situation. More often than not, he is often seen as an impulsive person with no consideration for those that may be affected by his choices. His curiosity and impulsive behavior often gets him into trouble more times than he could count.
Under his cheerful and odd attitude, he is very bitter and has a very cynical viewpoint of the world they live in and the people around him; humans or not. He envies people who talks about their families and those who are lively. He always doubt any good intentions from people. Feng always believes that they want something in exchange for their so called 'kindness.' Equivalent exchange. He prefers to hide all the negative side to him and sweep it under a rug. He uses his words and expressions to mask his bitterness and conflicts. Fake it till you make it as they all say. (Deceitful) While he does find it hard to trust someone, he's willing to cooperate if it suits the situation.
Despite all this, he is actually sensitive. He is very aware of what others are feeling even though he does not make that known. He usually does not mean what he says. But it's hard to tell for sure. While he often belittle and insult human lives, he is not as inhumane as he makes himself out of be. But he is good at wiping his true feelings off the face of the Earth.

"'It's not a big deal. It's common.' Could also mean, it's a big deal. It's uncommon."
[ S U M M A R Y ]
Feng was born out of force selection in a breeding factory in Italy. His mother nurtured him until she died, causing him to land in the hands of an apathetic caretaker who forced him into an obedience role if he wanted to be a 'good boy'. When he came into the working age, he was traded off to New York where a couple took him under their wing and raised him as their own.
His papa taught him how to read and write and then how to cook after Feng found a cookbook. Time passed and the boy caught a smuggler red handed and rushed to snitch. Feng ends up getting accused, injured and was going to be carted off to the arenas for a crime he didn't commit. His papa sacrificed himself and left Dad and Feng behind. The smuggler got karma and died years later for a crime he didn't commit.
He then was traded off to a place in Canada where he met Theo and Fe'nya. They soon became close and Feng often drag them into trouble. Then Feng caught another smuggler redhanded, Theo's father. This time he kept his mouth shut and promised not to tell, but Sikes didn't believe him. After that, the boy holed himself in a shell and slowly detached himself from Theo and Fe'nya.
Weeks later, the boy came to an idea to help Theo and gain things he need. Sikes agreed with Feng's deal, beginning the boy's journal down the pitfall. Years later, Theo caught them in the act and cut ties with Feng out of anger. Sikes choose many people to be traded off for new slaves, Feng was one of those people.
Landing in North Dakota, Feng found the sewers and found the ship. He met Cynthia, a doctor who introduced him to the project after interrogating him ruthlessly. A year later, the doctor suddenly disappeared, leaving Feng who was dependent on her. Afterwards, he reunited with Theo and Fe'nya. The reunion made planted a goal in Feng.
To get his love ones on the ship and out of this hellhole.
"Hey Theo, hand me that recorder. Hello, hello? Is this work-- Oh, thanks.
So... Ahem.
Most of you entertain yourselves by listening to stories of the old world by the Elders.
But have you ever wonder if some of them were even true?
Hah. Well...
Every story has some truth in them.
Each one answers our questions, yet raise new ones as well.
I'm Feng Lee, and I'm going to tell you a story.
And maybe you would understand it in your own way.
Maybe you can find truth in it."
[ A G E : 3 - 6 ]
Italy was where it was at. Half of the country submerged underwater, forgotten and never to be seen again beneath the murky depths. Somewhere within what used to be Rome, sat a breeding factory. Hustling and bustling, screams and cries, loud and cold. It was a mess. And in that mess was where Feng was born out of forced selection. Back then, he didn't have a name. His mother simply called him, 'Soldatino'.
Feng's mother was brought overseas from America, thus she had a harder time communicating with the other breeders and caretakers. And so when Feng cause trouble, she often had to apologize through her gestures. But it was different for Feng who was born there.
He always remembered her to be kind and nurturing unlike most breeders that were forced and rejected their offsprings. Feng was always on the move. He never could keep still and at times, it tends to get him into trouble with the other breeders. Having a nuisance like him around only aggravated their mood. His mother often had to keep him on a short leash much to his displeasure.
Nonetheless, her care for him did not waver. But naturally, she was afraid. Two failed pregnancies in a row, if she was no used to the Ez'mer, they would sent her from away from Feng and she wasn't ready to part from him yet. But it seemed as if third time was a charm indeed. The small boy stared constantly at her ever growing stomach, where his sibling laid. Oh boy, someone else to play with. There were times when he lay his head on her stomach to feel his sibling's kick and at times even try to talk to it with his weird mix of Italian and English.
But alas, the baby came out as a stillborn and his mother never woke.
Soon the boy found himself in the hands of another at the age of six. Cold and distant unlike his mother, only giving him the basic needs. Because of his lack of understanding with his small mind, he sat there waiting for his mother to return with his sibling. When told they were never coming back, Feng cried nonstop and threw tantrums which only gained him punishment to keep him silent and in line.
Due to his 'bad' influence with the other kids, he was keep isolated from the rest of the children, in hopes his boisterous behavior will not spread to the other children. The caretaker didn't have the patience for it nor wanted trouble for it. Feng's personailty soon simmered down to a quiet and obedient individual. Yet she keep him isolated to keep him this way, telling him that it was for his own good.
A year later, it was time for him to work. Brought by an Ez'mer from overseas, he was soon shipped to a plantation to what was used to be New York City.
[ A G E : 7 - 13]
Naturally, moving to a new environment was scary to the young boy. Some looked at him like prey, calculating if he was useful to their group. That's when he met two men that took him under their wing, Hye and Shen; a couple that has been around the plantation for quite some time. Because of their reputation in protecting those in need, the plantation was usually free of trouble from other gangs. And because Feng was only a kid then, they took him in to raise him as their own. Shen was the one that named the boy 'Feng' after discovering that he had no name. Slowly, they coaxed him out of the quiet and obedient shell he was forced into.
Hye, referred to as Papa by the boy, taught Feng how to read and write, helping the boy improve his English. Feng enjoyed listening to stories of all sorts from his papa. His favorite was Alice in Wonderland. His dad, Shen, tried to teach him how to defend himself but the boy as more interested in learning how to read and write so he'll be able to read any books that he comes across.
Coming across a cookbook, Feng was naturally curious, wanting to know what he was looking at. Was this food? It looked too pretty to eat. There was such a edible thing? Turns out it used to belong to his Papa's mother. Seeing the boy's curiosity, Hye decided to teach the boy all he knows about cooking from his mother.
When he wasn't learning, he was helping on the fields. When he wasn't helping on the fields, he was listening to his Papa's stories or playing with his Dad. All the while, keeping out of trouble to avoid getting his family punished by their master. Their master was known to have quite a terrible temper. As he grew older, he knew the things his Papa taught him probably wouldn't have any use in the near future. There was no way he could be able to actually be able to cook a feast like in the books. But still he continued to learn as much as he can, knowing that he was probably the few rare people who can read or write, even cook even. And that's what makes it special to him.
However, happiness usually fleeting.
Feng was doing the usual work, tending to the fields, stocking vegetables and fruits into boxes. The thirteen year old boy was moving boxes over to the sugar fields when he caught something out the corner of his eyes. It was Holts, a higher ranked worker, Feng knows him well. The man was kind and often helpful for those in need. Thinking that the man offered to take over for someone, the boy brushed it off and walked away, only to see the action again.
Feng silently watched as Holts stole sugar, tucking it away into his many pockets. In the process of shock, the boy nearly spilled the stacked sugar in the box, some of it spilling onto him as he hastily set it back in place. The noise attracted the man and the look he gave the boy was terrifying. Making a decision right then and there, Feng hurriedly took off with Holts catching up behind him.
Catching sight of his parents with their master, he opened his mouth to speak but Holts' voice cuts in immediately accusing him of smuggling. The boy didn't get a chance to speak as the man pushed the blame onto him, pointing out the sugar on his clothes. Feng tried to deny but his words against Holts, it didn't matter. Narrowing dodging claws to his chest, it stabbed his leg causing him to writhe in pain. Shen quickly pulled him away to stop the bleeding. He was going to be sent to the arenas, his master told them. The injury was to handicap him, to ensure that he'll die in the fight. He couldn't believe that he was being punished to death for a crime he didn't commit.
Hye stood in the way, trying to reason with their master in vain. When nothing seemed to be working, only further angering the Ez'mer, his papa ended up offering himself in Feng's place.
For a moment, the Ez'mer was going to reject but a sudden idea came into mind. His dad covered the boy's eyes just as their master's stingers flew. Feng couldn't see anything, but the torturous screaming of his Papa told him vaguely about what had happened. Fearfully listening to the screamings, he finally was able to pull his dad's slacken hand away when the screamings stopped. Their master pulled it's claws out of the man's corpse and flicked the blood off, some of it landing on them. Then the boy emptied his stomach onto the cold bloodied ground. It was his punishment, to ensure he wouldn't step out of line if he doesn't want his dad to end up the same way; the Ez'mer made it clear in his actions. His dad carried Feng away along with the man's body so it wouldn't be carted off elsewhere to rot.
It was the first time he saw his dad cry.
[ A G E : 14 - 16 ]
Shen, along with the help of other people, helped keep Feng's leg from being infected and straining it too much while working. The boy was deemed ungrateful and a liar after telling what had happened. No one could believe that a gentle and kind man like Holts would do such a thing. No one but his dad.
Shen was furious, he rammed his fists into Holts' face until he was yanked away being told he was being blinded by grief. But Shen believes Feng. He spent a nearly a year supporting his son and helping his leg heal right so he wouldn't become useless in their master's eyes and thrown away. And Feng was planning something else entirely.
Karma seemed to grant his wish a few years later.
The plantation was burning, smoke and shouts of alarm rang in the air. And their master was beyond furious. The blame was pinned on Holts after finding the evidence in his home along with smuggled food. Without another thought, the Ez'mer struck him down and the man writhe in pain like Feng's papa did. Soon after he died, killed for a crime he didn't commit.
Murmurs of disbelief flew around, unable to believe that Holts would do should a thing. But the deed was done. The plantation was ruined and a worker was the cause for it. Needing to fix his plantation and fix the ways he handles his slaves so such an issue wouldn't raise again, he separated his workers into two groups before trading them off.
One for those near their expiration date and one who's still young enough to handle the load. Shen was among the expired ones.
Before Feng was sent off to Canada, his dad gave him his coat and they never crossed paths again.
Upon arriving to his new home at the fresh age of 16, he met a guy called Theo and was immediately tucked under his wing. Along the way, he also met a servant boy, Fe'nya, becoming friends with him after being intrigued by his looks. The three of them soon became close and Feng soon stopped mourning for the death of his dads.
[ A G E : 1 7 - 19 ]
If one would've met Feng at this age, one would say he was like a raging fire. Energetic and full of life, he always had a charm that pulled others in, like moths to a flame. He wasn't afraid to take risks or dared state what's on his mind. He was reckless and a troublemaker to the boot. Overall, he was an intelligent young boy that makes that stupidest choices known to mankind. Always dragging Theo and Fe'nya into things he calls 'adventures' only to escape getting into trouble by a hair.
He tells them stories often and teach them how to read and write when he had enough attention to do so. If there was one person he avoided, it was Theo's father, Sikes. No one was blind to the beatings the man gave to his own son, especially not Feng who lived under the same roof as them. But there was nothing he could've done. He just stick by Theo's side and help with his injuries when it was all done.
But other than that, he was content with this life. He was a dreamer, often spouting nonsense to his brothers about finding a new life like Alice but better. Theo never took him seriously, but it was nice to dream.
But dreams often ends when reality wakes you up.
It was almost like a deja vu feeling when Feng just so happened to look up and spot Sikes heading elsewhere. Not seeing Theo around, he followed, thinking that Sikes brought Theo out to beat him again. Of course that wasn't what he saw when he peeked his head out of his hiding spot. The man was trading sugar and fruit to another Ez'mer. Not wanting to make the same mistake like before, he quickly took off, making sure to keep his mouth shut, completely oblivious to the pair of eyes that watched his back.
Sikes found the boy a few moments later and began beating him to keep him silent. In the process of punishing the boy for sticking his nose where it didn't belong, a single thought of 'Why not?' ran through his mind. Pleas and apologies fell on deaf ears and Feng was soon muffled silenced, being forced to endure this torture with no one near to save him.
After the whole ordeal, Feng revert into a shell, slowly detaching himself from Theo and Fe'nya. Soon, he became distant and recoiling at every little touch. He simply worked and head to bed. That was all he did. One night, he had a thought. A horrible idea, but what does he got to lose?
The next day, he found Sikes alone and approached him with a deal, to which the man agreed to. Many months later, rumors flew about the two which soon reached Theo's ears. The man brushed it off course, it was absurd. But it made him notice how often Feng disappears at random times. The next time he saw Feng walking off, he followed.
Catching them in the act, he felt betrayed, cutting his ties with Feng then and there without giving the boy a chance to clear up any misunderstandings. But there was nothing to explain. His actions were as clear as day.
Feng was soon chosen to be shipped off to a new owner. With no chance to have a reconciliation with Theo, he was traded off to a high ranking female Ez'mer in North Dakota.
[ A G E : 1 9 ( N O R T H D A K O T A ) ]
Life in North Dakota was a harsh one; this time being truly alone. Refusing to be in an alliance, Feng was treated as scapegoat. But he tries to keep out of everyone's way and just do his job. It was all he was meant to do.
One day, he stumbled upon a storm drain during his break. Curious and perhaps looking for a bit of excitement, Feng slipped through. It was dim and the smell was a bit hard to bare as he looked around, but he soon heard voices and followed as his interest piqued. After following a pair of people carefully, he stumbled upon something completely unreal. He wasn't sure what to call it. People were lively down here, building and hustling around.
He was gawking too long to notice someone yanked him back, revealing themselves as a harsh looking woman. She demanded what he was doing and who he was. Feng could only stumble over his words in reply. She dragged him away to a secluded place, keeping her hold on him as she slams him with endless rounds of questions.
After what seemed like hours of talking she brought him back, introducing him to the project. Then she introduced herself as Cynthia.
[ A G E : 2 0 - 21 ]
Feng spent the next year improving his culinary skill and getting Cynthia to try it for him. In return, the doctor helped patch him up whenever he comes down looking half dead. The woman wasn't a cook, she couldn't teach him anything but first aid treatment for his own use, seeing how he never seem to defend himself against hits.
The boy was always the quiet one. Keeping out of people's way and refusing to make eye contact in hopes that some of the crew understood that he wasn't a social person and would leave him alone. That wasn't the case with Shepard. The man himself was joyful and loud, there no ears were spared from the man's boasting about his daughter. Feng ended up listening to the man's joyful tone and pride-filled voice talking about his daughter drawings. Somewhere along the way, Shep's daughter drew him a grungy drawing of a rabbit out of oatmeal on a rag.
He soon reverted back to his shell after that interaction and skittered back to Cynthia's side.
Weeks after that, the doctor asked him about his parents, if he knew Shen and Hye. At those names, Feng's head snapped up, curious, yet wary of how she knew their names. She claimed that she was friends with them before she was traded off. When it was time for them to leave, she told him to come back again the next day and she'll tell him her time with his dads.
And so he did come back the next day, waiting for she to show up like usual. However, she never showed up and still he waited the next day, thinking nothing of it. It was only after a few weeks later when he was forced to believe that she was truly gone.
Feng didn't come down to the sewers for a good while.
Once he was able to stop mourning, he went back down, bumping into someone during his trip to the ship. To his surprise, it was Theo. After a wild chase in the sewers and an awkward reconciliation, Theo brought Feng to his plantation where Fe'nya resided. A new goal burned in Feng. He was going to get them out of this hellhole, he remembered his farfetched words in the past and he was going to keep his word.
A couple of days later, he brought them to the project.
But Feng felt like he wasn't doing enough. A lot of 'what ifs' rang in his mind. Life now wasn't the best and Feng wanted to give all he can to his brothers. Food, water, clothes, books, anything while they were still on Earth. Who knows if they were going to even live to see the ship take off. What does he have to lose? What more could life take away from him? And so he began to revert back to his old ways.
[ A G E : 2 2 ( C U R R E N T ) ]
Loud and wild with his words, he talked in riddles and tangents. Still, he was cynical and a bit nihilistic under his laughing face. But his goal was still there. He just wants to get Theo and Fe'nya out of this hellhole, give them a chance to taste freedom. And if he is able to get on, he'll be there with them, if not, then he's fine with that. For now he'll just work like he was made to do.

"Disgusting."
Sikes: "I'm not here for you."
Feng absolutely loathes Sikes. Their relationship was one with benefits. In a way, Sikes did raise him. Feng always reminded Sikes about their deal, not wanting to be framed for doing this out of personal pleasure.
Cynthia: "Are you sure I should drink this...? It smells horrible."
She was like one big auntie to him. That likes to drink. He often used to have her taste test his cooking. Whenever he gets hurt, she was the one that always patched him up and looked after him when he cowers away from social interactions. She wasn't a cook but she was a doctor in her own rights. He was pretty close to her before she disappeared like the wind.
